To support the effective delivery of Nutrition International (NI) programs in Nigeria by ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial processing, accounting, reporting and control. The Finance Officer supports the Corporate Services function in maintaining sound financial records and systems; processing payments and payroll-related transactions; supporting budgeting, audits and statutory compliance; and ensuring adherence to NI policies and procedures, applicable accounting standards, donor requirements: and Nigerian laws and regulations. Roles & Responsibilities: Review the financial components of P-REQs, contracts, amendments, payment requests, purchase orders, travel letters and project or contract closure documentation. Maintain effective financial controls, complete records and a clear audit trail; identify and escalate errors, unusual transactions, control gaps and financial risks. Provide financial guidance to programme staff on project budgets, eligible costs, coding, cost allocation, documentation and donor compliance requirements. Process payments, maintain general ledger records, and perform bank and cash reconciliations. Monitor administrative contracts and ensure compliance to the contractual terms and timely contract renewal. Coordinate preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts; monitor expenditure against approved budgets and provide timely variance analysis and advice to budget holders. Coordinate day-to-day accounting operations and the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close, including preparation of journals, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, schedules and supporting documentation. Participate in procurement processes, including bid analysis and evaluation, review of supplier quotations, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and value-for-money principles. Requirements: A recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent), or progress toward such qualification, is an advantage. Experience: supporting program finance, contracts, audits, payroll, procurement and administrative financial processes. Working knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements: relevant to employers and organizational operations. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, financial controls, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting. Experience: using accounting/ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized institution. At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience: in finance, accounting or a similar role, preferably within an international NGO or donor-funded environment.
