The role also involves educating patients on eye health, maintaining accura Min Qualification: Degree Experience Level: Entry level Experience Length: 1 year Language Requirement: English Working Hours: Full Time - 8 to 5 Applicant Location: Abeokuta & Ogun State, Nigeria Job descriptions & requirements Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, binocular vision, and overall eye health. Diagnose and manage common eye conditions and visual disorders within the scope of optometric practice. Prescribe and fit spectacles, contact lenses, and other vision correction devices. Detect signs of systemic diseases that may affect the eyes and refer patients for appropriate medical evaluation when necessary. Identify patients requiring specialist ophthalmic care and make timely referrals. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including refraction, tonometry, visual field testing, and fundus examinations. Counsel patients on eye health, preventive care, and the proper use and maintenance of corrective lenses. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records. Collaborate with ophthalmologists, medical doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Ensure all optometric equipment is used correctly and report maintenance needs promptly. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing professional development activities. Comply with infection prevention and control measures, patient safety protocols, and all clinic policies. Perform other duties assigned by the Medical Director or Hospital Management. Requirements: Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom), as applicable. Valid registration and current practicing license with the appropriate regulatory authority. Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience is an advantage. Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye examinations and interpreting diagnostic findings. Knowledge of modern optometric equipment and clinical best practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills. Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
