We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of high-capacity generator sets, particularly 450 kVA and above. Key Responsibilities: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in diesel engines and generator components. Conduct fault diagnosis using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals. Troubleshoot issues involving cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, and other engine-related systems. Inspect engines and generator components to identify signs of wear, damage, or failure. Perform load testing and operational checks after repairs to confirm that generators are functioning properly. Dismantle, repair, reassemble, and test engines and mechanical components as required. Work closely with Electrical Technicians and other workshop personnel to resolve generator-related issues. Carry out engine oil, filter, belt, hose, coolant, and other routine maintenance replacements. Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards. Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on high-capacity diesel generator sets, particularly 450 kVA and above. Perform engine overhauls, repairs, servicing, and replacement of defective components. Accurately document work carried out, identified faults, replaced parts, and maintenance activities. Maintain proper use and care of workshop tools, equipment, and facilities. Requirements: Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and mechanical diagrams. Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Experience: working on Perkins, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MWM, or similar diesel engines will be an advantage. Experience: with engine troubleshooting, servicing, repairs, and overhauling. Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanical systems and generator maintenance. Proven experience: working on high-capacity generators of 450 kVA and above. OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field.
