Credit Recovery Officer Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 2 - 5 years Location Rivers City Port Harcourt Job Field Sales and Business Development Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Credit Recovery Officer to manage and recover delinquent loan accounts, minimize credit losses, and improve portfolio quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring overdue accounts, communicating with delinquent customers, negotiating repayment arrangements, conducting field recovery activities where necessary, and escalating high-risk accounts for further action. The Key Requirements: Credit Management: Monitor and manage overdue and delinquent loan accounts across assigned customer portfolios. Contact customers by phone, email, and physical visits to follow up on outstanding loan repayments. Negotiate repayment plans, settlements, and restructuring arrangements with delinquent customers. Conduct field visits and other recovery activities as required. Track customer commitments and ensure agreed repayment plans are followed. Identify high-risk and difficult accounts and escalate them appropriately. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of recovery activities, customer commitments, and payments. Prepare regular recovery reports and provide updates on portfolio performance. Work closely with the Credit, Sales, Finance, and Legal teams to resolve delinquent accounts. Collaborate with the Legal team on escalated recovery actions, including litigation and repossession where necessary. Provide recommendations on effective recovery strategies for difficult accounts. Ensure all recovery activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical collection practices. Identify trends in loan defaults and recommend strategies to improve recovery rates and reduce future delinquencies. Analyze portfolio trends and recommend measures to improve repayment performance and reduce losses. Ensure proper reconciliation and accuracy of credit and recovery records. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Must have completed NYSC. 2 – 5 years of relevant experience: in credit recovery, debt collection, credit control, or loan recovery within the financial services sector is mandatory. Proven experience: managing delinquent loan accounts and developing effective repayment plans. Experience: in field collections and customer negotiations is an advantage. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Good knowledge of credit, loan management, and debt recovery processes. Ability to analyze customer repayment patterns and develop data-driven recovery strategies. Strong documentation and record-keeping skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently, meet recovery targets, and manage multiple accounts effectively. Knowledge of applicable debt recovery regulations and compliance requirements.
