We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Location: Benin City, Edo Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical competence, attention to detail, confidentiality, integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to quality patient service, with the ability to work effectively within established hospital policies, procedures, and reporting structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory investigations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, maintaining laboratory equipment and records, and supporting clinicians in making informed decisions regarding patient care. We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and analytical Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our healthcare team. Key Responsibilities: Perform and document routine quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations on patient specimens in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments as required. Ensure the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal of biological specimens and laboratory waste. Participate in internal quality assurance activities and external quality assessment schemes. Maintain adequate laboratory supplies and promptly communicate stock requirements: to the appropriate supervisor. Analyse laboratory results accurately and promptly, and prepare reports for physicians and other authorized healthcare professionals. Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, other laboratory professionals, and hospital staff to support effective patient care. Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, reports, and other relevant documentation. Identify and report equipment malfunctions, reagent issues, and other factors that may affect the accuracy of laboratory results. Perform other laboratory-related duties as assigned by the supervising Medical Laboratory Scientist or management. Receive, identify, label, process, and properly store patient samples while maintaining specimen integrity. Protect patient confidentiality and handle all patient information in accordance with professional and hospital policies. Maintain proper laboratory hygiene and comply with infection prevention, occupational health, and safety protocols. Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognized institution. Candidates must be based inBenin City, Edo State. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to use hospital laboratory software and electronic systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Previous experience: working in a hospital, diagnostic centre, or clinical laboratory is an advantage. Ability to work under pressure and meet required turnaround times without compromising quality. Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and respect for patient confidentiality.
