Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and Nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in under-served communities worldwide. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: VAWG Social Worker Location: Katsina Job Summary The social worker is responsible for preparing and conducting PSS activities and overseeing the awareness raising activities and the work of the outreach volunteers. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Promote and introduce the International Medical Corps (IMC) integrated approach to VAWG services to institutions, centers, Primary Health Care centers (PHCs) and individuals. Conduct safety audits at the community level Identify opportunities for awareness raising, whether at a community center or other safe space. Contribute and regularly update service mapping of service providers within the area of intervention to ensure that VAWG caseworkers are informed of all relevant and available services. Conduct any other programmatic activity as requested by the VAWG officer Engage men and boys within the VAWG-IMC Program and promote equal treatment regardless Of sex. Ensure safe identification and referral for beneficiaries including VAWG survivors to the VAWG case managers. Plan, monitor, and follow up the work of outreach volunteers in the field Plan and conduct psycho-social support sessions to beneficiaries at the Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSSs), the primary health care centers, the community centers and outreach field level. Organize focus group discussions on relevant information when needed. Prepare and submit reports and documentation for activities in a timely manner and report directly to VAWG-Officer. Attend IMC and other requested trainings and meetings when available or requested in coordination with VAWG Program Officer and/or Program Manager. Reporting: •Coordination meeting minutes Ad-hoc reports of any incident or new trends. Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities: listed in this document are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily comprehensive. Other reports as requested Monthly quantitative and detailed qualitative reports. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualification: Good interpersonal and influencing skills. Knowledge of, respect and empathy for the communities we are working with Experience: in the field of social work Good facilitation skills – capable of managing and facilitating group discussions with program participants Commitment to advancing women's rights and women's resilience. Good listening and communication skills. Typically, a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related fields (psychology, sociology, social animation etc.). An equivalent combination of relevant education: and experience: may be substituted as appropriate. Desirable: Previous experience: working in MHPSS is a plus.
