U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Residential Security Alarm Technician Announcement Number: Abuja-2026-020 Location : Abuja Job Type: Full-time Job Description The U.S. Embassy Abuja, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Residential Security Alarm Technician in the Regional Security Office. Duties The Incumbent provides a wide variety of technical services to include the installation, maintenance and repair of technical security equipment. Incumbent plans, designs, prepare reports on engineering aspects of maintenance program, operations and repair. The Residential Security Technician (RST) will perform technical duties in support of the Missions residential security program. Scope of authority includes all technical tasks required to support the regional security office technology program for all unclassified areas of USG facilities and installations within Abuja or other operating areas as directed. Make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the mission’s technical security program and ensure that maintenance strategy, principles and practices are implemented. Requirements: Education: Two (2) years of university studies in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required. Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience: as an electrician or an alarm technician is required. Experience: with electronics, basic electrical wiring, locks and lighting systems is also required. Job Knowledge: Must have knowledge and/or experience: in installing, programing, troubleshooting and repairing alarm systems to include the installation and configuration, SMS, Radio base and / or cellular base. Position requires knowledge of products on the local security market to propose upgrades on residences; and required to stay current on products available and propose advantages/disadvantages of those products to the RSO staff. Must have experience: working with different types of steel, concrete and masonry wall construction, anchors and bolts. Must have basic locksmith skills. Must have knowledge about CCTV systems. An expert knowledge and understanding of security technology systems and basic computer skills and office procedures is required. Must have general electric skills including knowledge of alternating and direct current. Skills And Abilities: The incumbent is required to have a valid driver license. Must possess valid Class D driver’s license for at least five years. Ability to use MS Excel, Access, and Word software, Office 365, web-based data entry platforms, and internet search engines. The incumbent must have experience: installing, troubleshooting and maintenance of CCTV equipment and devices, including configuration of this equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to use knowledge and skills to rectify problems associated with security equipment independently. Salary USD $19,951 / Per Year.
