The role ensures that electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, within approved specifications, budget, and project timelines, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards and statutory requirements. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the planning, design coordination, supervision, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design & Technical Coordination: Review electrical drawings, designs, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements. Identify design clashes and technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions. Assist in design development and modifications where required. Ensure electrical designs and installations are practical, safe, efficient, and fit for purpose. Review shop drawings, material submittals, equipment schedules, and technical proposals. Interpret and coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, civil, and mechanical works. Project Planning & Execution: Prepare and review method statements, work plans, and installation procedures. Plan and coordinate electrical activities in line with the approved project programme. Ensure adequate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment are available for electrical works. Monitor progress against approved schedules and identify potential delays. Supervise the execution of electrical installations and ensure timely completion. Coordinate electrical activities with other project disciplines. Site Supervision: Ensure proper sequencing and coordination of electrical works. Ensure installations are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications. Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and other stakeholders on electrical matters. Cost & Variation Management: Monitor material usage and minimise unnecessary expenditure and rework. Support the Quantity Surveyor in reviewing electrical quantities and variations. Recommend cost-effective electrical solutions without compromising safety, quality, or functionality. Identify potential variations, additional works, and scope changes and report them promptly. Monitor electrical works against approved project scope and budget. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain updated electrical drawings and document registers. Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, commissioning, material approvals, and technical submissions. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on electrical activities and progress. Prepare and track RFIs, inspection requests, technical queries, and snag lists. Assist with preparation of as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranties, test certificates, and handover documents. Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant electrical engineering/design software. Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience: in electrical engineering within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and construction practices. Professional certification/membership such as COREN, NSE, or other relevant professional body is an added advantage. Proven experience: in building, infrastructure, industrial, commercial, or residential construction projects.
