In a renewable energy company, this role is critical for managing contracts, regulatory approvals, risk, and corporate governance, while supporting business growth and project execution. The role requires a blend of legal expertise, regulatory knowledge, and commercial awareness, particularly within the energy sector. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Legal Advisory & Corporate Governance Provide legal guidance to management on business decisions, contracts, and risk exposure Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and internal policies Advise on legal implications of strategic initiatives and transactions Manage board resolutions, legal filings, and statutory obligations Contract Management Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including: EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) agreements Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) Vendor and supplier contracts Lease and partnership agreements Ensure contracts are aligned with company objectives and risk appetite Monitor contract performance and manage disputes where necessary Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., energy regulators, environmental agencies) Monitor changes in legislation and advise management accordingly Secure and maintain licenses, permits, and approvals required for operations Risk Management Identify legal and compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies Establish and maintain a compliance framework across the organization Conduct compliance audits and assessments Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures Dispute Resolution & Litigation Manage legal disputes, claims, and litigation involving the company Liaise with external counsel and oversee legal proceedings Provide advice on dispute avoidance and resolution strategies Policy Development & Implementation Develop, review, and update company policies (e.g., compliance, ethics, anti-corruption) Ensure effective communication and enforcement of policies across the organization Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct Training & Awareness Conduct training sessions on legal, compliance, and regulatory matters Build awareness among staff on policies, procedures, and legal obligations Support departments in understanding compliance requirements: Collaboration with Business Units Work closely with business development, finance, HR, and technical teams Provide legal support during project development and execution Ensure legal considerations are integrated into business processes EDUCATION: & TRAINING Bachelor of Laws (LL.
