Senior Analyst, Energy Markets (Remote) at Electron Intelligence ⏲ Sep 3, 2026, 8:12 AM ⋕ View all Consulting & Strategy jobs Electron Intelligence provides analyst-led coverage of Africa’s energy transition markets, capital, assets and policy. We build proprietary datasets on utility performance, power-market regulation, renewable-energy development, trade and transaction activity. Our research and structured market intelligence help organizations compare markets, evaluate opportunities and inform investment, policy and operating decisions. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Senior Analyst, Energy Markets Location: Remote (Nigeria) Employment: Full-time The Role You will set the quality standard for research in your areas and ensure that our work answers the commercial questions facing investors and operators. Electron Intelligence is hiring a Senior Analyst to own our research across Africa’s power and renewable energy markets. The role starts with how markets and projects function in practice: who pays, how reliable revenue is, which projects have moved beyond announcements, and where regulation, grid conditions, or counterparty risk changes an investment case. You will decide which market questions EI investigates, produce original analysis and maintain the evidence, datasets and analytical frameworks behind our coverage. Why this role matters You will own a research system, not only a publication pipeline: the questions we investigate, the sources behind our conclusions, the structured intelligence that remains useful after publication and the outputs clients use in their work. EI’s clients use our work to assess markets, companies, projects and transactions. The Senior Analyst will make that work more useful by connecting market evidence to investment and commercial decisions. What you will own Primary research and market engagement | about 20%: Build relationships with market participants, conduct interviews and test information against primary evidence. Represent EI in research briefings and industry discussions. Research direction and published analysis | about 40%: Set EI’s research agenda and produce original analysis on Africa’s power and renewable energy markets. Turn market, regulatory and project evidence into clear conclusions for investors and operators. Product, client and team contribution | about 15%: Apply EI’s research to defined client and product questions. Review research, support the commercial team and help junior analysts improve their work. Market intelligence and analytical assets | about 25%: Turn research into reliable datasets, market records and analytical tools. Keep sources, calculations and coverage accurate and current. Outcomes during your first 6–12 months: Deliver research on an agreed and dependable publication cadence. Produce analysis that clients can use in market selection, investment screening and commercial strategy. Strengthen EI’s core power-market datasets and analytical models. Build a credible network of operators, investors, policymakers and specialist advisers. Establish a clear coverage plan for Africa’s power and renewable energy markets. Ensure that research in your coverage areas meets EI’s sourcing, calculation and writing standards. Candidate Profile We are looking for an analyst with sector depth, commercial judgment and a strong standard of evidence. You should be able to hold a detailed conversation with an operator, examine the supporting data, and turn both into a clear conclusion for a senior decision-maker. Relevant backgrounds: Strong candidates will usually come from one of two routes: Industry and operator experience: commercial strategy, business development, investment analysis or market development within a utility, independent power producer, renewable energy developer or other power-sector operator. Research and advisory experience: power-sector consulting, transaction advisory, market intelligence, investment research or specialist energy research. Required experience: and capabilities: At least 4-5 years of relevant experience: in African power, renewable energy, energy consulting, market intelligence, investment analysis or commercial strategy. A strong understanding of how power projects earn revenue and how regulation, counterparties and grid conditions affect commercial outcomes. The confidence to develop and defend an independent view. Demonstrated depth in one or more African power or renewable energy markets. Evidence of high-quality analytical writing for senior decision-makers. Experience: assessing power markets, projects, companies or investment opportunities. Experience: using primary sources, conducting interviews and maintaining a clear evidence trail. The judgment to distinguish a market signal from publicity or unsupported ambition. Strong data-analysis skills and confidence working with financial, operational and market information. How the role may evolve: As EI’s research team grows, this role may take on responsibility for managing analysts, setting research standards, developing new research products and expanding coverage into adjacent energy-transition markets. What We Offer A competitive salary and annual bonus. A remote working environment built around trust, clear goals and accountability. An education: bursary and access to career-learning resources. Direct exposure to senior industry participants and room to develop your sector expertise, professional network and leadership responsibilities: as EI grows. Ownership of EI’s research across African power and renewable energy markets. How to Apply Interested and qualified candidates should: Click here to apply online View all Jobs in Nigeria
