We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Senior Electrical Specialist / Mentor Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Employment Type: Contract Responsibilities: Drive defect elimination and reliability improvement initiatives using Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Troubleshoot complex and recurring electrical faults and system failures. Provide technical leadership to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of electrical maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules, switching procedures, permit requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across electrical maintenance activities. Ensure maintenance activities comply with IEC, IEEE, API, ANSI, NFPA 70E, and other applicable electrical standards. Support maintenance planners in developing technically complete work packs. Lead critical maintenance activities, planned shutdowns, major overhauls, commissioning, and plant start-up activities. Ensure correct job sequencing and switching procedures are followed. Coordinate effectively with maintenance teams by providing clear technical guidance, instructions, and accurate maintenance reports. Perform advanced fault diagnostics, insulation testing, load analysis, and thermographic inspections. Provide hands-on field mentorship and structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) to technicians and maintenance planners. Support accurate spare parts and material selection for maintenance activities. General Requirements: Deep understanding of electrical power distribution systems, switchgear (AIS/GIS), MCCs, transformers, UPS, and generators. COREN or equivalent professional registration is preferred. Extensive exposure to complex, high-voltage (HV), medium-voltage (MV), and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems in continuous process environments. Strong working knowledge of protection and control systems, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motors, and soft starters. HND/B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. OEM certifications (e.g., ABB, Schneider, Siemens, GE) are preferred. CompEx or equivalent Hazardous Area certification is highly preferred. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience: in electrical maintenance within heavy industrial sectors, specifically Oil & Gas, Refineries, GTL, Petrochemical, or Chemical Plants. Mandatory safety certifications including HSE, Permit to Work (PTW), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Proven expertise in diagnosing and rectifying complex electrical faults and system failures. Familiarity with electrical standards such as IEC, IEEE, API, NFPA 70E, and hazardous area requirements.
