The Rig Maintenance & Asset Integrity Lead is accountable for the technical integrity, reliability, availability, maintenance governance and lifecycle assurance of drilling rigs, well-service equipment and associated safety-critical assets within the Drilling & Well Services ME. The role establishes and controls the maintenance and asset-integrity management system covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, structural, lifting, rotating, pressure-control and utility systems. The incumbent ensures that equipment is fit for service, correctly maintained, inspected, certified and available to support safe and uninterrupted drilling and well operations. The role provides technical leadership for preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance; equipment reliability; integrity inspection; certification; critical spares; maintenance planning; failure elimination; rig acceptance and operational readiness. It is also responsible for ensuring that maintenance decisions protect well control, process safety, personnel safety, regulatory compliance and asset lifecycle value while optimizing downtime, maintenance cost and equipment utilization. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance & Asset Integrity Strategy Develop and implement the ME rig maintenance, reliability and asset-integrity strategy aligned with operational plans, asset criticality and business objectives. Establish maintenance philosophies, asset registers, equipment hierarchies, criticality classifications, maintenance standards and lifecycle plans. Define preventive, predictive, condition-based and corrective maintenance requirements: for all critical rig and well-service systems. Develop annual maintenance plans, shutdown/overhaul strategies, integrity campaigns and asset replacement priorities. Drive transition from reactive maintenance to reliability-centered and risk-based maintenance practices. Rig Mechanical Systems Integrity Provide technical governance for drawworks, top drives, rotary systems, mud pumps, engines, compressors, cranes, winches, pipe-handling equipment, pumps and auxiliary mechanical systems. Ensure lubrication, alignment, vibration, wear, condition-monitoring and overhaul requirements: are defined and implemented. Review recurring mechanical failures and lead root-cause analysis and permanent corrective action. Ensure mechanical equipment operates within OEM limits and approved operating envelopes. Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Systems Provide integrity oversight for generators, motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, UPS systems, hazardous-area electrical equipment and distribution systems. Ensure instrumentation, alarms, interlocks, shutdowns, sensors, control systems and safety-critical instrumentation are calibrated, tested and functional. Ensure Ex equipment inspection and hazardous-area compliance requirements: are maintained where applicable. Control bypasses, inhibited alarms and temporary electrical/instrumentation modifications through formal authorization and MOC. Hydraulic, Pneumatic & Pressure-Control Equipment Ensure maintenance and integrity of hydraulic power units, accumulators, cylinders, control manifolds, pneumatic systems and high-pressure equipment. Coordinate assurance of BOP control systems, choke/kill systems and other pressure-control equipment with drilling and well-control requirements. Ensure pressure tests, inspection, recertification and maintenance records are complete and traceable. Prevent use of equipment with expired certification, unresolved integrity defects or inadequate pressure rating. Structural Integrity, Lifting & Safety-Critical Equipment Govern inspection and integrity assurance for derricks/masts, substructures, foundations, platforms, walkways, handrails and structural members. Ensure cranes, padeyes, lifting beams, slings, shackles, elevators and other lifting equipment are inspected, certified and controlled. Manage structural defects, corrosion, fatigue concerns and repair recommendations through engineering assessment and MOC. Maintain a register of safety-critical elements and ensure performance standards, assurance activities and impairment controls are implemented. Rig Acceptance, Mobilization & Operational Readiness Lead or support rig technical due diligence, acceptance inspections, condition assessments and pre-mobilization audits. Verify maintenance status, statutory/OEM certification, critical spares, backlog, safety-critical functionality and outstanding defects before operations. Define technical readiness criteria and ensure punch-list items are risk-ranked and closed or formally accepted before commencement of critical operations. Support rig moves, commissioning, reactivation and demobilization from an equipment-integrity perspective. Other Key Responsibilities: Include: Maintenance Planning, CMMS & Work Management Reliability Engineering & Failure Elimination Inspection, Certification & Regulatory Compliance Spares, Inventory & Materials Management OEM, Vendor & Contractor Management HSE, Process Safety & Maintenance Risk Control Cost, Budget & Lifecycle Asset Management QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Mechatronics or related Engineering discipline. Master’s degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Reliability or Business is advantageous. Professional engineering registration or recognized maintenance/reliability professional membership is desirable. Professional / Technical Certification Relevant reliability, maintenance or asset-management certification (e.g., CMRP or equivalent) is advantageous. Competence in lifting equipment, hazardous-area electrical systems, NDT/inspection, pressure equipment or condition monitoring is desirable as relevant to the role. Working knowledge of applicable API, ISO, IEC, OEM and recognized drilling-rig maintenance/integrity practices is required. Minimum 12-15+ years of progressive maintenance, reliability and asset-integrity experience: in drilling, offshore/onshore rigs, oilfield services or comparable high-hazard operations. At least 5 years in a senior maintenance, rig engineering, reliability or asset-integrity leadership role. Strong practical experience: with drilling-rig mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, control, lifting and safety-critical systems. Demonstrated experience: with CMMS, maintenance planning, inspection/certification, RCA, critical spares and equipment reliability. Experience: with rig acceptance, reactivation, major overhaul or maintenance shutdowns is strongly desirable. Demonstrated contractor/OEM management, budget control and multidisciplinary team leadership.
