SNV Nigeria is seeking a dynamic and digitally savvy Communication applicants for Internship/National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its Country Programme to support its communications, branding and marketing materials with an aim to achieve an enabling environment for SNV’s business development. Purpose of the Internship Placement In your role as a Communications Intern, you will gain practical experience: in communications within the international development sector. The intern will be based in Abuja, work with the Communication team and Country Programme team. These includes working with Programme Managers, Advisors and project teams across SNV Nigeria’s portfolio, contributing to a range of initiatives that strengthens SNV’s objectives and visibility. The intern will report to the Country Director and will take on, a mix of recurring tasks and new, dynamic projects. Each week will offer opportunities to learn, co-create, and contribute in meaningful ways. To succeed in this role, you should bring a flexible and proactive mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine passion for our mission to advance sustainable and equitable development, making impact that matters. Job Description Communications and digital Support: Support the development of engaging content using pictures and info graphs which aligns with the various SNV Nigeria’s digital platforms. This includes, website, ViVa Engage, facebook and Instagram. Support the development of impact and success stories of the project. This could be featured in reports, newsletters, factsheets and targeted visibility materials. Support management and advisors on the application of corporate brand on promotional activities such as project updates, case studies, briefs, presentations and other communication materials. Collaborate with and support staff with communication activities such as basic graphics, infographics, presentations and short videos using digital design and editing tools. Monitor SNV Nigeria’s digital engagement and support basic analytics and reporting. Programme and Knowledge Management: Capture, organise and upload photographs, and videos on SharePoint for project activities such as online publications, presentations, exhibitions, reports, etc. Support Programme Managers and Advisors to identify compelling project results, human-interest stories and learnings that can be communicated to wider audiences. Support documentation of workshops, field visits, stakeholder meetings and project events. Assist in converting technical programme information into clear, accessible and engaging communication content. Support the preparation of presentations, briefing materials and other programme documentation. supporting the development, documentation and dissemination of programme activities. Assist teams in maintaining project information and digital records. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Marketing, Development Studies or a related field. NYSC member with valid deployment to Abuja and graduates with a maximum of 1 year of post-NYSC work experience. Competencies : Candidate must be a dynamic, creative, and proactive intern with a digital-first mindset and strong communication skills, who brings the following: A passion for learning about and making a difference in the international development sector. Storytelling skills with a visual eye; some experience: with graphic design and/or video editing. Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to diverse audiences. Familiarity with digital marketing tools such as Canva, Trello, Hootsuite, or similar platforms. A proactive, quality-focused approach to work, with project management skills and a strong sense of responsibility. A creative and innovative mindset, eager to co-create and learn, with a proactive attitude and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office/365, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Basic video/photo editing skills will be an advantage.
