Working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: MEL Officer Job ID: IITA/P&C/NRS2026-044 Location: Ibadan, Oyo Duties Conduct routine monitoring visits to project locations to verify implementation progress and reported results. Review and validate submitted data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and appropriate disaggregation. Provide routine MEL guidance and support to Program staff, field teams and implementing partners. Support the implementation of the I-Youth 2.0 MEL framework and monitoring plan in Nigeria. Document implementation lessons, good practices, challenges and emerging results from Program activities in Nigeria. Conduct routine data verification and quality checks and follow up on identified gaps or inconsistencies. Ensure adequate supporting documentation and evidence are maintained for reported Program results. Maintain and regularly update Nigeria's indicator tracking tools and performance records. Coordinate the timely collection and collation of Program data from field teams, implementing partners and other relevant stakeholders. Assist with field-level planning, data collection, supervision and quality assurance for surveys and assessments. Analyze routine Program data and prepare summaries, tables and performance updates for Program review and decision-making. Work with Program teams to ensure that reported achievements are supported by verifiable evidence and documentation. Provide accurate and timely MEL inputs for monthly, quarterly, annual and donor reports. Support follow-up and tracer activities to monitor participant outcomes, including enterprise establishment and growth, employment, access to finance and market linkages. Ensure Participant information is appropriately disaggregated in line with project and donor reporting requirements. Perform other MEL-related duties as assigned by the M/E Manager Maintain accurate and up-to-date Participant records and databases for I-Youth 2.0 activities in Nigeria. Support the implementation of baseline, midline, endline, tracer studies and other assessments coordinated by the M/E Manager. Support the use of approved digital data collection and management systems. Participate in field monitoring and verification exercises to assess implementation progress and validate reported results. Support the tracking of participants across training, enterprise development, employment and other Program pathways. Support field teams and partners in the correct application of approved data collection tools, indicator definitions and reporting procedures. Support Program review and reflection sessions by providing relevant performance data and evidence. Maintain and regularly update Program databases, monitoring tools and other MEL records for Nigeria. Track Program activities, outputs, outcomes and indicators against approved workplans and targets. Identify performance gaps and promptly escalate them to the M/E Manager and relevant Program teams. Support the training and supervision of enumerators and other data collectors where required. Requirements: Previous experience: in agriculture, youth employment, entrepreneurship, livelihoods or related development programs is highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience: in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting. Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field. Competencies The ideal candidate must have: Good understanding of monitoring, evaluation and results-based management. Strong data collection, management and analytical skills. Proficiency in relevant data collection, analysis and visualization tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity. Experience: with digital data collection tools, databases and data management systems. Strong organizational and coordination skills. Good report-writing and documentation skills. Experience: supporting surveys, assessments, evaluations or tracer studies. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
