The foundation was formed by some eminent survivors of the Insurgency in North-east Nigeria and a few well-meaning Individuals who came together with a vision to see Nigeria a poverty free place where peace will abide and humanity can live freely in harmony. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Community Hygiene Promoter Location: Yola North, Yola South, Fufure, and Gire LGA, Adamawa Duration: 1 Month Reports To: WASH Supervisor Employment Type: Short-Term Contract Job Purpose The position will work directly with households, community leaders, women and youth groups, and other community structures to promote positive hygiene behaviours, identify hygiene-related concerns, and support timely community-level WASH interventions. The Community Hygiene Promoter will support the delivery of community-based hygiene promotion activities aimed at improving knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to safe water, sanitation, personal hygiene, and disease prevention. Key Responsibilities: Immediately report any safeguarding, protection, security, or other serious concerns identified during field activities. Collect and communicate community feedback, concerns, and suggestions through established accountability mechanisms. Observe and promote LPF safeguarding, protection, accountability, and code of conduct standards during all community engagements. Mobilize community members to participate in hygiene and sanitation activities. Perform any other duties related to hygiene promotion and WASH programming as assigned by the supervisor. Ensure that hygiene promotion activities are inclusive and accessible to women, men, children, older persons, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. Encourage community ownership and sustained adoption of safe hygiene and sanitation practices. Promote key hygiene practices, including proper handwashing, safe water handling and storage, environmental cleanliness, and appropriate sanitation practices. Support the distribution and appropriate use of hygiene-related materials and supplies, where applicable. Demonstrate appropriate handwashing and other key hygiene practices where required. Support community campaigns, sensitization sessions, and other hygiene promotion events. Engage community leaders, volunteers, WASH committees, women’s groups, youth groups, and other relevant structures in hygiene promotion activities. Collect accurate information on hygiene promotion activities, attendance, household visits, and community feedback. Conduct household visits and provide practical hygiene education: based on identified needs. Conduct hygiene promotion and awareness sessions with community members and targeted households. Identify and report hygiene, sanitation, water access, or other WASH-related concerns observed within communities. Maintain proper records and submit timely activity reports to the supervisor. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience: with an NGO or humanitarian organization is an advantage. Ability to communicate in relevant local languages spoken in the target communities. Experience: conducting community sensitization sessions or household-level awareness activities. Ability to work independently and as part of a field team. Minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSCE); OND/HND in Environmental Health, Public Health, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field is an advantage. Previous experience: in hygiene promotion, community mobilization, health education, WASH, or humanitarian/community-based programming is desirable. Willingness and ability to work extensively within communities and field locations. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with different community groups. Good understanding of basic hygiene, sanitation, and disease-prevention practices.
