As the company expands its project portfolio, we are looking for a highly competent, Certified, and experienced Project Engineer to take responsibility for the technical coordination, execution, quality and day-to-day engineering control of assigned construction projects. We need an engineer who understands what happens on the drawings, on the site and in between someone who can coordinate people, materials, equipment and technical requirements: and ensure that work is delivered safely, correctly, on schedule and to specification. You will be responsible for translating project designs and specifications into well-coordinated, technically sound and efficiently executed site activities. This Is not a desk-bound Engineering role. We are seeking a well-established indigenous civil engineering and construction company in Port Harcourt, delivering construction, civil works, engineering, procurement and project-management solutions across Nigeria. Key Responsibilities: Project Execution: Plan and coordinate site activities to achieve project milestones and delivery targets. Monitor productivity, resources and progress against the project programme. Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements. Coordinate labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor activities to optimize project delivery. Coordinate and supervise day-to-day engineering and construction activities on assigned projects. Identify potential delays, technical constraints and construction risks and recommend practical solutions. Technical & Engineering Control: Identify discrepancies, design conflicts and constructability issues and escalate them appropriately. Interpret drawings and communicate technical requirements: clearly to site teams. Ensure construction work complies with approved designs, engineering standards and applicable regulations. Review construction drawings, specifications and other technical documents before and during execution. Prepare and review method statements, work plans, inspection requests and technical documentation where required. Provide practical engineering solutions to challenges encountered during construction. Quality Assurance & Quality Control: Coordinate inspections and testing of construction works and materials. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved specifications and quality requirements. Ensure defective or non-conforming work is identified and corrected promptly. Maintain appropriate quality records and project documentation. Work with consultants and client representatives during inspections and technical reviews. Project Monitoring & Reporting: Participate in project meetings and provide engineering updates to management. Provide accurate technical information to support project planning and decision-making. Monitor quantities, materials usage and site productivity. Track actual progress against project schedules and planned milestones. Prepare regular engineering and project progress reports. Site Coordination: Liaise with consultants and client representatives on technical and construction matters. Ensure proper site documentation and records are maintained. Support project mobilization, execution, completion and handover activities. Coordinate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, surveyors, artisans and other project personnel. Provide technical direction to site teams within the scope of the role. Health, Safety & Environment: Stop and escalate unsafe work where necessary. Identify construction hazards and support appropriate risk-control measures. Ensure engineering and construction activities are executed using safe work practices. Promote strict compliance with project HSE requirements. Mandatory Professional Requirements: You Must Have All of the Following: Valid COREN registration/certification. Demonstrable experience: coordinating site activities and construction teams. Bachelor's degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Strong reporting, documentation and communication skills. Strong knowledge of construction quality control and HSE requirements. Proven hands-on experience: on building, civil works or infrastructure construction projects. Willingness to work at project locations across Nigeria when required. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines. Current membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, site operations and engineering practices. Ability to interpret and work confidently with engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents. Minimum 5 years' relevant post-graduation experience: in civil engineering/construction. You'll Stand Out If You Have: Experience: preparing method statements, progress reports and technical submissions. Experience: working with consultants, government agencies and corporate clients. Experience: with quantity measurement, BOQ interpretation and cost monitoring. PMP or other recognized project-management certification. Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera P6, MS Excel or other relevant engineering/project-management tools. Experience: in high-rise buildings, roads, drainage, structural works, rehabilitation or other major civil works. Experience: managing multiple construction activities simultaneously. Strong knowledge of construction planning and scheduling. Experience: working within an ISO-oriented construction environment.
