We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Quality Assurance Officer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The QA Officer will work closely with Software Developers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Project Managers, DevOps Engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to identify defects, validate requirements, improve testing processes, and support the delivery of reliable and high-quality software solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Officer to join our technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that software applications and solutions developed or implemented meet defined quality, functionality, performance, security, and usability standards. The ideal candidate should have strong experience: in manual software testing, with additional exposure to either security/penetration testing or performance and load testing. Key Responsibilities: Monitor outstanding defects and provide timely updates on their status and resolution. Contribute to the development and implementation of QA best practices, standards, and quality metrics. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, methodologies, tools, and overall QA efficiency. Maintain accurate and up-to-date QA documentation, including test cases, test execution reports, defect logs, and test results. Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and user acceptance testing as required. Where applicable, conduct or support penetration and security testing to identify potential application vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures. Participate in post-release reviews and recommend improvements to minimize recurring defects. Provide QA input during requirements: gathering and solution design to promote a shift-left approach to quality assurance. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements. Work closely with developers to investigate, reproduce, and resolve identified defects. Conduct defect retesting and regression testing following bug fixes and system changes. Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other relevant Agile ceremonies. Qualifications and Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience: in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or a related role. Demonstrable experience: in manual software testing. Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or another relevant discipline. Experience: working within an Agile/Scrum or similar software development environment. Experience: testing web-based applications, APIs, databases, and/or enterprise software solutions is an advantage. Practical understanding of the SDLC and STLC. Required Skills and Competencies: Basic understanding of SQL/database testing is an advantage. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, principles, and processes. Familiarity with bug/issue tracking and test management tools. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and technical teams. Proficiency in developing and executing test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts. Ability to manage multiple testing activities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and exploratory testing. Practical experience: with Apache JMeter for performance and load testing is an advantage. Knowledge of API testing and tools such as Postman is an advantage. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and potential risks. Knowledge of OWASP and application security testing is an advantage. Desirable Certifications: Professional certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or other relevant software testing, cybersecurity, or performance-testing certifications will be an added advantage.
