We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Junior Accountant Location: Lekki, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Overview The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, relevant professional certification, and the ability to handle multi-entity financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and performance analysis. We are seeking a highly competent Junior Accountant with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience: across at least two of the following industries: real estate development, construction, REIT investment, fintech, microfinance banking, or hospitality. This role reports to the Director, Finance/Accounts. Key Responsibilities: Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with insights on profitability, cost drivers, and revenue trends for each subsidiary. Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily, monitor cash flow across entities, and prepare cash position reports for management. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for each business unit, monitoring actual performance against budget and providing variance analysis. Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including real estate construction accounting (e.g., project cost tracking), REIT fund management, microfinance bank prudential guidelines, fintech payment reconciliation, and hospitality revenue accounting. Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing required schedules, ledgers, and explanations during periodic audits. Compute, file, and remit all applicable taxes (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) across the group, ensuring timely compliance with FIRS and state revenue authorities. Oversee the processing of vendor payments, contractor milestone payments, and customer/tenant/investor receipts, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement. Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records for all subsidiaries, ensuring proper documentation and filing in accordance with statutory requirements. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for the group, including inter-company reconciliations and eliminations. Review and strengthen internal controls, recommend process efficiencies, and ensure adherence to group financial policies. Requirements: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution. Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., CBN guidelines for microfinance banks, SEC rules for REITs). Professional certification is an added advantage(e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent). Minimum of 2-3 years of post-qualification experience: in a similar role, with practical experience: in at least two of the following sectors: real estate development, construction, REIT investment, fintech, microfinance banking, or hospitality.
