We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Credit Officer Location: Jos, Plateau Employment Type: Full-time Job purpose The Credit Officer will be responsible for identifying and onboarding eligible small-scale business owners who require financing to expand their businesses. The officer will assess prospective clients, facilitate loan applications, monitor loan utilization, maintain good client relationships, and ensure timely repayment and recovery of loans. The successful candidate will work closely with business owners in the field and contribute to the organization's goal of supporting small businesses through accessible financing. Key Responsibilities: Client Acquisition & Business Development: Promote the organization's financial services within assigned locations. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. Explain the organization's loan products, terms, conditions and repayment schedules to prospective clients. Identify and visit potential clients, particularly small-scale business owners who require business financing. Meet assigned client acquisition and loan disbursement targets. Credit Assessment & Loan Processing: Ensure that all required documentation is complete before loan disbursement. Conduct field visits and basic business assessments where required. Prepare accurate loan applications and submit them for approval. Collect and verify relevant information and documentation from prospective borrowers. Assess clients' businesses, repayment capacity and suitability for loans. Loan Monitoring & Recovery: Maintain regular contact with borrowers and remind them of repayment schedules. Ensure all recovered funds are properly accounted for and remitted to the company's designated account. Collect repayments from clients in accordance with approved company procedures. Monitor clients after loan disbursement to ensure proper utilization of funds. Follow up on overdue payments and support effective loan recovery. Report delinquent accounts and recovery challenges promptly to the supervisor. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients, loans, repayments and outstanding balances. Comply with all company policies, procedures and financial control requirements. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as required. Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of client and company information. Required qualifications Candidates with 1–5 years of experience: are encouraged to apply. Candidates with OND or equivalent qualifications may also be considered based on relevant abilities and performance. Previous experience: is not compulsory, as successful candidates will receive relevant training. Previous experience: in microfinance, lending, credit management, sales or customer relationship management is an advantage. HND or B.Sc. in any field.
