We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Position: Quality Assurance Officer Job Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Officer to join our technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that software applications and solutions developed or implemented meet defined quality, functionality, performance, security, and usability standards. The QA Officer will work closely with Software Developers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Project Managers, DevOps Engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to identify defects, validate requirements, improve testing processes, and support the delivery of reliable and high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong experience: in manual software testing, with additional exposure to either security/penetration testing or performance and load testing. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements. Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and user acceptance testing as required. Work closely with developers to investigate, reproduce, and resolve identified defects. Conduct defect retesting and regression testing following bug fixes and system changes. Monitor outstanding defects and provide timely updates on their status and resolution. Where applicable, conduct or support penetration and security testing to identify potential application vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures. Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other relevant Agile ceremonies. Provide QA input during requirements: gathering and solution design to promote a shift-left approach to quality assurance. Maintain accurate and up-to-date QA documentation, including test cases, test execution reports, defect logs, and test results. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, methodologies, tools, and overall QA efficiency. Contribute to the development and implementation of QA best practices, standards, and quality metrics. Participate in post-release reviews and recommend improvements to minimize recurring defects. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or another relevant discipline. 2–4 years of professional experience: in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or a related role. Demonstrable experience: in manual software testing. Experience: working within an Agile/Scrum or similar software development environment. Practical understanding of the SDLC and STLC. Experience: testing web-based applications, APIs, databases, and/or enterprise software solutions is an advantage. Required Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, principles, and processes. Proficiency in developing and executing test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts. Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and exploratory testing. Familiarity with bug/issue tracking and test management tools. Knowledge of API testing and tools such as Postman is an advantage. Basic understanding of SQL/database testing is an advantage. Knowledge of OWASP and application security testing is an advantage. Practical experience: with Apache JMeter for performance and load testing is an advantage. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and potential risks. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and technical teams. Ability to manage multiple testing activities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Certifications: Professional certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or other relevant software testing, cybersecurity, or performance-testing certifications will be an added advantage.
