We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Senior Reliability Engineer (Instrumentation&Control, Electrical) Job Identification: 635 Location: Nigeria Job Summary Senior Reliability Engineer (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Reliability and Performance) is responsible for ensuring the reliability, protection integrity, control system stability, and performance of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems within the steam power plant. The role provides technical oversight of protection systems, relay coordination, Distributed Control System (DCS)reliability, instrumentation accuracy, and electrical risk, while supporting outage planning, incident analysis, predictive maintenance, and plant performance optimization. The position proactively identifies and mitigates failures, nuisance trips, and performance inefficiencies to improve plant availability, heat rate efficiency, and operational stability. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Protection and System Integrity: Investigate electrical protection-related trips and recommend corrective actions. Validate protection system settings, relay coordination studies, and fault level calculations. Review and approve protection schemes for generators, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-plant systems. Ensure compliance with grid code and internal protection standards. Control System and Instrumentation Reliability: Validate calibration integrity and accuracy of critical instrumentation. Analyse DCS, PLC, and control system-related trips and system disturbances. Identify control logic vulnerabilities and recommend system improvements. Monitor DCS health indicators, redundancy performance, and communication stability. Reliability & Outage Risk Support: Support electrical and control risk assessments during planned outages. Participate in root cause investigations for major EC&I incidents. Review return-to-service readiness from an EC&I reliability perspective. Identify recurring failures and lead corrective reliability improvement initiatives. Plant Performance and Optimization: Identify performance losses attributable to instrumentation inaccuracies or control instability Lead monitoring of heat rate, auxiliary power consumption, and efficiency metrics from an EC&I standpoint. Develop and track performance KPIs linked to electrical and control system reliability. Predictive Maintenance and Asset Intelligence: Develop and maintain digital dashboards for EC&I reliability and performance reporting. Support the implementation of predictive maintenance analytics for electrical and instrumentation systems. Integrate asset intelligence into maintenance planning. Analyse condition monitoring data to detect early signs of degradation. Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with plant reliability objectives. Provide technical recommendations to reduce forced outages and nuisance trips. Prepare periodic reliability and performance reports for management review. Additional Responsibilities: Plan resource requirements: during shift duties –manpower and operations materials Coordination with other team leads for ensuring efficient plant operations. Oversee operation of the Turbine and Boiler, during shift duties Oversee minor adjustments/repairs as required Unit manpower utilization and allocation during shift duties Coordinate Physical inspection /condition monitoring of equipment in the turbine and boiler sections of the plant Education: and Work Experience: Minimum of 7 – 10 years’ experience: in Power Utilities, Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production or any asset-intensive industry; three of which would have been spent in providing independent assurance over technical control effectiveness and supporting plant reliability. Bachelor’s degree in electrical & Electronics Engineering or Electro-Mechatronics Engineering or any related engineering disciplines, or relevant experience: to back up the any engineering degrees.
