The successful candidate will oversee the editorial and production processes for the organisation’s print and digital publications. The Publishing Editor will ensure that all published content meets high standards of quality, accuracy, relevance, consistency, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities: Plan and manage the editorial calendar for print and digital publications. Review, edit, proofread, and approve articles, reports, interviews, features, and other content. Ensure that published materials conform to the organisation’s editorial standards and house style. Coordinate writers, reporters, contributors, designers, photographers, and other members of the publishing team. Commission relevant and engaging stories and oversee their development from concept to publication. Verify facts, sources, names, dates, quotations, and other important information before publication. Ensure that content is grammatically correct, legally appropriate, original, and free from plagiarism. Work closely with graphic designers and production personnel to maintain high-quality layouts and presentation. Monitor publishing schedules and ensure that deadlines are met. Support the development of strategies to expand readership, strengthen the publication’s identity, and improve audience engagement. Identify emerging issues, trends, and stories relevant to the publication’s audience. Represent the organisation professionally when engaging contributors, partners, interviewees, and other stakeholders. Perform other editorial and publishing duties assigned by management. Qualifications and Experience: Applicants should possess: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Publishing, Media Studies, or a related discipline. Relevant professional experience: in editing, journalism, publishing, communications, or content management. Excellent command of written and spoken English. Strong editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and research skills. A sound understanding of print and digital publishing processes. The ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively under deadlines. Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with content-management systems, digital publishing platforms, and standard office applications. A good understanding of media ethics, copyright, plagiarism, and responsible publishing. Creativity, sound editorial judgement, and close attention to detail.
