Job Title: Field Coordinator Location: Tarkum, Taraba Position Summary The Project Field Coordinator provides technical and field leadership for the effective delivery of protection services to Cameroonian refugees in Taraba State. The role ensures quality implementation of protection activities, accountability to affected populations, and alignment with UNHCR standards and Caritas Nigeria’s safeguarding frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Protection Leadership & Oversight: Provide technical and operational leadership for the successful implementation of protection responses in refugee settlements and host communities. Oversee program implementation, ensuring all activities, outputs, and outcomes are delivered in line with project plans, annual results frameworks, and donor requirements. Support the integration of GBV, Child Protection, Legal Assistance, Community Based Protection, and Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance, MHPSS activties for coordinated service delivery. Capacity Building & Supervision: Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of protection staff, monitors, and border monitors. Ensure effective performance management and professional development to strengthen frontline protection capacity. Provide technical guidance on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) protocols, ensuring staff and partners adhere to reporting and response mechanisms. Accountability & Community Engagement: Establish and maintain robust feedback and complaints mechanisms to ensure accountability to persons of concern. Conduct program reviews and facilitate smooth communication with refugees and host communities to enhance trust and responsiveness. Lead awareness creation on PSEA, GBV prevention, and protection rights among target populations. Coordination & Partnerships: Maintain close collaboration with UNHCR Field Offices and other humanitarian actors. Strengthen organizational relationships with donors, partners, and government agencies, facilitating technical collaboration and coordination. Represent Caritas Nigeria in relevant working groups and coordination forums to ensure alignment with humanitarian priorities. Program Development & Durable Solutions: Provide technical leadership in developing durable solutions strategies in line with the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR). Develop detailed program descriptions and operational plans consistent with agreed scope, resources, and timelines. Ensure protection interventions are culturally appropriate, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s /Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Social Work or related field. 4–6 years of experience: in humanitarian protection programming, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or coordination role. Strong knowledge of international protection standards, programing, and accountability frameworks. Proven ability to manage multi-sectoral projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
