Well Workover & Intervention Engineer in a Leading Exploration and Production Company - WTS Energy ⏲ Sep 9, 2026, 1:16 PM ⋕ View all Engineering jobs WTS Energy - Our client, a leading exploration and production company in Nigeria, is recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Well Workover & Intervention Engineer Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary To plan, design, and execute well workover operations safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively in order to restore, sustain, or enhance well productivity and integrity, and so provide technical expertise in the design, selection, and implementation of well equipment, ensuring that each well achieves maximum production potential, long-term integrity, and cost efficiency in line with THE COMPANY and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Workover Program Development & Engineering Review: Conduct follow-up assessments and equipment selection and application. Develop a complete workover program based on all available geological information. Develop and validate completion designs, well schematics, and detailed execution programs. Ensure workover designs align with reservoir objectives and production strategies. Apply best available, economical technology in well designs and operations. Prepare well-specific workover programs, risk assessments, and equipment lists. Conduct engineering calculations (tubing stress, packer load, flow performance). Operational Planning and Execution Support: Provide well site surveillance and technical assistance on equipment testing, new procedures, abnormal pressure, etc. Work closely with contractors to ensure service quality, performance, and compliance. Give rig site technical assistance to Operations Supervisors during critical well control situations or for abnormal pressure detection. Review retrieved managed electronic data and ensure errors found in the daily operations reports and final well report are corrected when discovered. Provide well site workover/ intervention surveillance and engineering assessments and counsel Operations Supervisors on critical activities and problems, such as equipment failures, workover fluid and hole problems, abnormal pressure detection, well testing, and well control. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Interface with drilling, subsurface, production, and supply chain teams to ensure design compatibility and operational readiness. Collaborate with service companies for technology deployment and performance optimization. Interface with Production, Subsurface, EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety), and Lead pre-job planning and post-job reviews with service companies and field teams. Survey day-to-day drilling progress to ensure the well Program is conducted applying the best technology, and propose modifications, if required. Procurement teams to ensure alignment of workover objectives. Well Integrity and Safety Oversight: Maintain compliance with well control, pressure containment, and safety management standards. Maintain barrier management and well control assurance throughout operations. Ensure all workover designs and activities comply with well integrity standards. Ensure that barrier philosophy and well integrity assurance are applied throughout the workover life cycle. Join in incident investigations and lessons learned processes. Participate in risk assessments, HAZIDs (Hazard Identification), and operational audits. Cost and Performance Monitoring: Interpret post-workover performance. Support continuous improvement through well performance reviews. Capture lessons learned and develop recommendations for future optimization. Provide surveillance of well costs and stewardship reconciliation exercises. Analyse operational performance against benchmarks and develop post-job reports with improvement actions. Prepare cost estimates, track expenditures, and analyze performance vs plan. Track and report actual costs versus AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) budgets; identify cost-saving opportunities. Work with Operations to implement changes in procedures and equipment based on results of this analysis. Qualifications and Requirements: BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) certification. Required Professional Certifications / Accreditations / Registrations: IWCF or IADC Well Control Workover / Completions Certification (Supervisor Level). Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related disciplines. Minimum Years of Experience: and Relevant Areas: 0-5 years in well engineering. Training in Workover and Well Integrity Design (SPE, IADC, or equivalent) Proven experience: in: Intervention design and execution (including sand control, intelligent completions, packers, and flow control devices). Tubing stress analysis and nodal analysis. Onshore, Offshore, or HPHT operations.
