We build solar-powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, providing approximately 186,000 people access to clean, affordable energy. We employ women from each community (known as Jaza Stars) to run the service, empowering our team to become leaders, entrepreneurs and drivers of economic growth within their communities. We’ve already successfully entered the Nigerian market, piloted several sites here and will grow to hundreds of locations over the next year. To support this expansion, we’re planning to hire over 200 people over the next 6 months. We are recruiting to fill the position below Job Title: Talent Officer Location: Lagos Position Overview This is a great opportunity to own key HR processes, work in a fast-paced environment and help build a strong, people-first culture. You’ll support the Talent Acquisition team in driving end-to-end recruitment, as well as supporting hiring managers, coordinating onboarding and ensuring every candidate and new hire has a great experience. From sourcing talent for field roles to supporting Finance, HR and Operations hiring; this role puts you at the center of Jaza's growth. As our Talent Officer, you’ll play a key role in helping us grow our team across the country. Roles and Responsibilities: Recruitment & Selection: Ensure all recruitment processes and practices comply with the company policies, standards, and local labor laws Maintain accurate candidate records and ensure data confidentiality Ensure that we are onboarding high quality candidates who will contribute to the Jaza Culture Act as the go-to point of contact for candidates and hiring managers for assigned recruitments. Coordinate high-volume hiring campaigns for both field and office roles Source, screen and interview candidates efficiently Conduct background checks and verify references Keep the hiring team updated on interview progress and scheduling Onboarding & Employee Experience: Deliver a smooth Pre-onboarding and engaging onboarding experience: for all new hires Ensure seamless and accurate calendar scheduling of all onboarding training sessions with subject matter experts and new hires Request, collect and file all candidate pre-employment documentation Support employee engagement initiatives that enhance the workplace experience: HR Support & Projects: Effectively represent Jaza’s professionalism and unique company culture Support internal HR initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed Follow all HRMS workflows for recruitment and onboarding Perform other duties as assigned How We’ll Measure Success Monthly hiring targets met (number of hires per month) 100% compliance with labor laws and internal Jaza policies in all hiring and onboarding processes Time to fill roles maintained at or below 60 days Onboarding completion rate within set timelines Qualifications and Skills: A discreet, trustworthy approach to handling sensitive information and employee data Customer-service mindset and strong candidate communication skills. Hands on experience: working with HR systems and tools (HRIS/HRMS) Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Psychology or a related field Demonstrated experience: supporting high-volume recruitment drives or talent coordination. Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environments where priorities evolve quickly Experience: supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to manage multiple priorities 1-2 years of experience: in core recruitment, including at least 1 year focused on high-volume recruitment A self-starter mindset; you take ownership and follow through Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professionalism High standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability Passionate about helping others succeed and making meaningful contributions to team culture Open-minded, flexible and always ready to learn and grow Must have skills: Ability to work with Data.
