Read more about this company Deputy HSE Manager Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 5 years Location Rivers City Port Harcourt Job Field Environment Health and Safety Qualifications Bachelor's Degree/HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, Science or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably within Oil & Gas, EPC/EPCIC, construction, fabrication or energy environments. At least 3 years in an HSE supervisory or leadership position. Demonstrable experience: working on EPC/EPCIC projects, preferably covering construction, installation, precommissioning and commissioning. Recognized HSE qualifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH or equivalent. Strong practical knowledge of HIRA, JSA/JHA, TRA, PTW, LOTO, SIMOPS and incident investigation. Experience: managing HSE requirements: for contractors and subcontractors. Proven experience: participating in client, regulatory and certification audits. Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness, environmental management and construction safety. ISO 45001/ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent advanced qualification will be an advantage. Offshore/onshore Oil & Gas project experience: will be an added advantage. Responsibilites Collaborate with the HSE Manager in providing strategic and operational HSE leadership across projects and company operations. Monitor implementation and monitoring Project HSE Plans, procedures, objectives and performance requirements. Provide HSE oversight across the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning project lifecycle. Lead/review HIRA, HAZID, HAZOP, JSA/JHA, TRA, SIMOPS and other risk assessment activities. Monitor high-risk activities including lifting and rigging, fabrication, work at height, confined space entry, hot work, excavation, electrical works, pressure testing and commissioning activities. Provide oversight of Permit-to-Work (PTW), LOTO, gas testing and critical control systems. Conduct HSE inspections, audits, behavioral observations and leadership tours across project sites, fabrication yards and operational facilities. Lead or participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses, unsafe occurrences and environmental events, including root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking. Monitor and improve contractor/subcontractor HSE performance, including prequalification, mobilization, audits and performance reviews. Develop and coordinate HSE training, toolbox talks, competency programs and safety awareness initiatives. Monitor the development, testing and continuous improvement of Emergency Response Plans and emergency preparedness programs. Monitor environmental controls covering waste management, hazardous materials, spill prevention, pollution control and environmental incidents. Prepare and analyze HSE performance reports, dashboards and leading/lagging indicators.
