We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Accountant Location: Ikeja, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring daily hotel/restaurant revenue and expenses, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, and supporting management with timely financial information. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven Accountant to join our hospitality business. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and preferably have experience: working in a hotel, restaurant, resort, or other hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities: Financial Accounting: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes. Prepare management accounts and financial reports as required. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payments, receipts, and expenses. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Revenue and Daily Operations: Review daily sales reports, cashier reports, POS transactions, and payment collections. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between POS, booking systems, cash collections, and accounting records. Reconcile credit card, bank transfer, online payment, and other payment channels. Monitor and reconcile daily revenue from rooms, food and beverage, events, laundry, and other hotel or hospitality services. Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure proper banking of daily collections. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Verify invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, and approved documentation. Process supplier invoices and ensure payments are properly authorized and recorded. Reconcile supplier statements and customer balances. Maintain accurate supplier and customer accounts. Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts. Inventory & Cost Control: Analyze food and beverage costs, wastage, variances, and gross margins. Assist with monitoring food, beverage, housekeeping, and other operational inventories. Work with procurement and operations teams to improve cost control and reduce losses. Participate in periodic stock counts and reconcile physical inventory with accounting records. Payroll, Tax & Compliance: Ensure appropriate statutory deductions and accounting entries are accurately recorded. Maintain proper records for internal and external audits. Ensure financial transactions comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Assist with tax filings and other statutory financial requirements. Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliation. Budgeting & Financial Analysis: Monitor actual performance against budgets and investigate significant variances. Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts. Identify opportunities for improving revenue, controlling costs, and increasing profitability. Provide financial analysis and reports to management to support decision-making. Qualifications & Experience: Experience: in a hotel, restaurant, resort, event center, or similar hospitality business is highly desirable. Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Minimum of 6–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in hospitality. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Professional qualification or part-qualification with ICAN, ACCA, or a similar recognized accounting body is an advantage. Experience: with accounting software and POS/hospitality management systems. Key Skills & Competencies: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work effectively with finance, front office, food & beverage, procurement, stores, and management teams. Effective monitoring of accounts receivable and payable. Accuracy of daily revenue reconciliation. Good knowledge of revenue and cost control. Strong numerical and analytical ability. Timely reconciliation of bank, POS, cash, supplier, and customer accounts. Ability to work under pressure and meet reporting deadlines. High level of integrity and confidentiality. Compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements. Accuracy of budget and cost-control reporting. Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills. Reduction of unexplained revenue and inventory variances. Timely processing of invoices and payments. Accuracy and timeliness of financial records and reports. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. The Accountant will work closely with: Food & Beverage Department Finance Manager / Financial Controller General Manager Human Resources / Payroll Front Office Team Procurement and Stores Suppliers and other business partners. External Auditors Salary N350,000 - N450,000 per month.
