The Medical Laboratory Technician will support Medical Laboratory Scientists in the efficient delivery of laboratory services while maintaining good laboratory practice, specimen integrity, biosafety and accurate documentation. Responsibilities: Key responsibilities: include: Receive, identify, label and process laboratory specimens appropriately. Assist with pre-analytical laboratory procedures. Perform phlebotomy and ensure correct patient/sample identification. Prepare samples for analysis according to approved procedures. Prepare culture media and reagents where required and within scope of practice. Assist with microbiological and other laboratory procedures within professional competence. Assist Medical Laboratory Scientists with routine investigations and laboratory workflows. Operate basic laboratory equipment and assist with automated analysers as authorised. Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance. Maintain work benches, equipment and laboratory areas in a clean and safe condition. Follow Good Laboratory Practice and approved Standard Operating Procedures. Comply with biosafety and infection-prevention requirements. Maintain specimen records and laboratory documentation. Assist with inventory checks and monitoring of reagents and consumables. Report equipment faults, sample problems and other nonconformities promptly. Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct. Qualifications Recognised qualification as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Valid professional licence/registration (MLSCN) to practise in Nigeria. 2–5 years' relevant experience. Experience: in a medical diagnostic laboratory is required.
