Depot Accountant Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND , Professional Certificate Experience: 3 years Location Niger Job Field Finance / Accounting / Audit Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and complete accounting records for all depot transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management review. Perform timely reconciliation of bank accounts, customer accounts, general ledger balances, and other relevant accounts. Monitor and reconcile inventory movements, including stock receipts, transfers, sales, returns, and adjustments. Verify and accurately post sales transactions, customer payments, receipts, and other financial transactions. Monitor customer receivables and follow up with the Sales Team on overdue and outstanding customer balances. Ensure proper documentation and authorization of all financial transactions within the depot. Ensure compliance with applicable tax and statutory requirements, including VAT, Withholding Tax, and e-invoicing requirements. Prepare monthly accounting schedules and supporting documentation for management accounts, statutory reporting, and audit purposes. Maintain effective internal controls over cash, inventory, receivables, and other financial transactions. Conduct periodic stock and cash reconciliations and promptly investigate and report any discrepancies. Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules, records, and explanations and responding promptly to audit queries. Ensure timely posting of journals, accruals, adjustments, and other accounting entries into the ERP system. Monitor depot expenses and ensure that expenditures are properly authorized, supported, and within approved budgets. Identify financial, inventory, and control weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement. Perform any other finance and accounting duties as may be assigned by Management. Qualifications Education: B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any related discipline. Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN or ACCA will be an added advantage. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution industry. Previous experience: in depot accounting, inventory management, receivables management, and financial reporting is highly desirable. Practical knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls. Hands-on experience: with ERP systems such as SAP, Tally ERP, Sage, or similar accounting software. Good understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory compliance requirements. Candidate MUST reside in Suleja, Niger State. Skills And Competencies Strong knowledge of financial accounting and financial reporting. Good understanding of inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and inventory controls. Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory compliance requirements. Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet strict reporting deadlines. Strong reconciliation and investigative skills. Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
