Job Title: Frontend Developer Location: Abuja (FCT) Job Type: Contract Contract Type: Employment – Local Contract Duration of the Contract: Indicatively 7 months based on funding Expected Starting Date: August 2026 Scope of Work The Front-End Developer is responsible for designing and developing user-facing components of systems supporting health, nutrition, commodity tracking, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). This role will focus on building intuitive, responsive, and accessible user interfaces that enable stakeholders to interact with complex data systems, including dashboards, reporting tools, and data collection platforms. The developer will ensure seamless integration with backend services and APIs, contributing to efficient data visualization and user experience. The Front-End Developer will work closely with the Backend & DevOps Engineer, Information Management Officer (IMO), and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to translate technical and programmatic requirements: into user-friendly applications that support decision-making. Description of Duties Front-End Application Development: Develop responsive and user-friendly web applications for health, nutrition, commodity tracking, and MEAL systems. Build interactive dashboards and interfaces for data visualization, reporting, and analysis. Ensure compatibility across devices (desktop, tablet, mobile) and browsers. Write clean, maintainable, and scalable front-end code using modern frameworks. User Interface (UI) and User Experience: (UX) Design: Design intuitive user interfaces that simplify complex data and workflows. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into functional designs. Ensure accessibility and usability for both technical and non-technical users. Apply best practices in UI/UX design, particularly for data-heavy applications. Integration with Backend Systems: Integrate front-end applications with backend APIs and services. Ensure efficient data retrieval and display from multiple data sources (health systems, nutrition data, commodity tracking platforms). Handle asynchronous data flows and ensure real-time or near real-time updates in dashboards and tools. Data Visualization and Reporting Interfaces: Develop dynamic dashboards and visualization tools for each system and to support MEAL frameworks and program monitoring. Implement charts, maps, and other visual components for health, nutrition, and supply chain data. Ensure clarity and accuracy in presenting indicators and analytical outputs. Application Performance and Optimization: Optimize applications for speed, performance, and scalability. Ensure efficient rendering of large datasets and complex visualizations. Conduct testing and debugging to maintain high-quality performance. Platform Operations & Application Support: Collaborate with DevOps processes to support deployment and updates of front-end applications. Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues across environments. Ensure secure handling of user interactions and data on the client side. Documentation and Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain front-end documentation, including component libraries and user guides where needed. Contribute to internal knowledge management and system documentation. Collaboration and Technical Support: Work closely with Backend & DevOps Engineer, Information Management Officer, Subject Matter Expert, and other stakeholders to align front-end solutions with system architecture and program needs. Support users and stakeholders by improving usability and functionality of applications. Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and tools. Requirements: Education: A Degree or professional qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, or a related field. Postgraduate studies in Artificial Intelligence or Data Science will be considered an asset. Certifications in AWS, GCP, or Azure, will be positively valued Languages: Fluency in English is required, with strong written and verbal communication skills Experience: Minimum of 6 years of professional front-end development experience, with proven experience: leading or owning complex web applications. Strong experience: building responsive web applications, dashboards, reporting tools, and data-driven user interfaces. Strong experience: with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, Vue.js, or similar. Experience: integrating front-end applications with APIs, authentication systems, and backend services. Experience: with data visualization tools, charts, maps, dashboards, and analytical interfaces. Practical design awareness is required, including the ability to guide UI direction, review designs, improve usability, and translate complex workflows into clear user interfaces. Hands-on UI/UX design experience, including wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and design systems, will be an advantage but is not mandatory. Experience: using design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar will be an advantage. Experience: using AI-assisted tools to speed up design exploration, prototyping, documentation, and front-end development will be an advantage. Skills : Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Strong knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, usability, performance optimization, and secure front-end practices. Ability to translate complex workflows and datasets into simple, intuitive, and user-friendly interfaces. Ability to provide constructive design input and guide the visual and usability direction of applications. Experience: with Git, code reviews, testing tools, and collaborative development workflows. Good understanding of CI/CD, cloud-based environments, and deployment processes is an advantage. Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
