The company operates an integrated oil palm project in Cross River State, Nigeria, covering over 34,000 hectares of plantations and a state-of-the-art palm oil mill. It stands as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s palm oil sector, combining large-scale plantation management with advanced processing facilities, and contributing to both local and global agribusiness growth. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Truck Driver Location: Mbarakom, Akamkpa Local Government Area, Cross River Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The ideal candidate must possess strong driving skills, a good understanding of vehicle maintenance, and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities: Transportation Operations: Safely transport Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), agricultural produce, supplies, equipment, and other company materials as assigned. Plan routes effectively to maximize efficiency and minimize delays. Adhere to all road traffic laws, safety regulations, and company driving procedures. Ensure timely delivery of loads to designated locations. Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Ensure vehicles are kept clean and in good operating condition. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles. Report mechanical faults, defects, accidents, or breakdowns promptly to the appropriate supervisor. Check vehicle systems including brakes, tyres, lights, engine oil, coolant levels, and other critical components. Loading and Cargo Management: Assist with loading and unloading activities where required. Verify load quantities and maintain compliance with vehicle load limits. Ensure cargo is properly secured and protected from damage during transit. Documentation and Record Keeping: Report any incidents, delays, or operational challenges encountered during transportation activities. Complete logbooks, trip sheets, and other transport documentation accurately and timely. Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle inspections. Health, Safety and Compliance: Follow RSPO, environmental, and operational compliance requirements: applicable to plantation operations. Comply with all company Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) requirements. Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing duties. Support the company's commitment to safe driving and accident prevention. Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience: operating trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles. Experience: in plantation, logistics, agriculture, manufacturing, or related industries will be an added advantage. Skills and Competencies: Ability to read routes and use navigation tools effectively. High level of responsibility, integrity, and safety awareness. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. Good communication and reporting skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery schedules. Excellent vehicle handling and driving skills. Working Conditions: May require extended working hours during peak harvesting periods to support Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) evacuation activities.
