We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Field Worker III Job ID: IITA/P&C/NRS2026-054 Location: Ibadan, Oyo Contract: 2-year renewable contract Duties Field Research Support: Assist in the handling, transportation, and documentation of cassava research materials between the field, laboratory, and screen house. Support collection of agronomic, phenotypic, and PPD-related data from field trials and cassava breeding populations. Participate in cassava field establishment, crop maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest activities under the postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD) project. Monitor cassava field plots and breeding materials for crop performance and other relevant field observations. Digital Phenotyping and Data Management: Support digital capture, annotation, and quality control of cassava root images. Maintain accurate records of research activities. Assist in collecting, recording, organizing, cleaning, validating, and securely storing laboratory and field research data using approved digital tools Laboratory and Tissue Culture Operations: Perform other related duties assigned by the Supervisor. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper organization of laboratory workspaces and equipment. Support routine laboratory and tissue culture activities following approved protocols. Support multiplication, maintenance, and acclimatization of cassava tissue culture materials. Assist with media preparation, labelling, sterilization, sample handling, and organization of laboratory materials and consumables. Ensure proper labelling, tracking, and storage of laboratory samples and cultures. Requirements: SSCE / O'Level with a minimum of two (2) years’ of relevant experience: in laboratory operations, field, data collection or research activities. Experience: with agricultural or research-related projects will be an added advantage. Competencies: The ideal candidate must have: Ability to work effectively in laboratory, screen house, and field environments. Basic knowledge of data collection and data management. Good communication and teamwork skills Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word and Excel. Good organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
