The role ensures that all structural elements including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, and retaining walls are reinforced strictly in accordance with structural engineering drawings, bar bending schedules, and international construction standards. The Iron Bender Foreman is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating all reinforcement steel (rebar) fabrication, cutting, bending, and fixing operations on site. Responsibilities: Technical Supervision & Reinforcement Placement: Ensure correct rebar sizing, spacing, overlapping lengths, bending angles, and concrete cover blocks are maintained precisely as specified in structural drawings. Supervise the complete rebar workflow, from reading bar bending schedules and blueprints to the final tying and placement of reinforcement steel in formwork. Inspect ongoing and completed reinforcement works to guarantee structural integrity, rigidity, and stability prior to concrete pouring. Workforce Leadership & Task Allocation: Monitor workforce productivity, attendance, and adherence to professional workmanship standards. Set daily production targets, allocate work crews effectively, and ensure fabrication schedules align seamlessly with the master construction timeline. Direct, coordinate, and supervise the daily activities of iron benders, steel fixers, and welding assistants on site. Material and Equipment Management: Monitor site tools and equipment (such as bar cutting machines, bending machines, manual benders, tying wires, and cutters), ensuring proper maintenance and immediate reporting of faults. Oversee the safe cutting, bending, and utilization of reinforcement steel bars to minimize material wastage and optimize stock usage. Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Maintain an organized, hazard-free rebar fabrication yard and working platform, ensuring safe handling of sharp steel edges and overhead loads. Enforce strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations during heavy lifting, cutting, and steel fixing operations. Reporting and Documentation: Report daily production milestones, material shortages, or site bottlenecks to the Site Engineer or Project Manager. Maintain an accurate daily log of reinforcement work progress, material consumption, and workforce deployment. Requirements: Education: Trade Test Certificate, Ordinary National Diploma (OND), or relevant technical certification in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or Metal Fabrication. Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on site experience: in steel fixing and reinforcement supervision within building construction, bridges, or heavy civil engineering projects. Skills & Proficiencies: Strong leadership, team management, and conflict-resolution abilities on a busy construction site. Excellent physical stamina and resilience for demanding field environments. Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and execute complex structural drawings and bar bending schedules. Strong technical proficiency in operating manual and mechanical rebar cutting and bending equipment.
