We are inviting applications from suitably qualified academics from accredited universities to fill the position below for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes: Job Title: External Examiner (International Relations & Diplomacy) Location: Nigeria Details As a leading private Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, integrity and excellence and external examiners will play a crucial role in this process. This call is open to scholars with demonstrated expertise the academic discipline offered by the University. We invite applications from suitably qualified academics from accredited universities to serve as External Examiners for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Eligibility Criteria Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Qualification: Must possess a minimum of a Ph.D. Degree in their field of expertise from an accredited institution. Independence: The examiner must be independent of Iconic Open University. Experience: Must have relevant expertise in their specialization. Evidence of prior experience: as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions is preferred. Demonstrated track record of postgraduate supervision and research publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals . Academic Rank: The candidate must not be below the rank of Senior Lecturer. A Reader or Professor are often the preferred choice, especially for postgraduate research supervision. Candidates must not have any conflict of interest, including but not limited to: Reciprocal arrangements involving cognate programmes at another institution. Former students of the University (unless a period of five years has elapsed and all students taught by or with the examiner have completed their programmes). Close professional, contractual, or personal relationships with staff or students involved in the programme. Current or recent employment with Iconic Open University (within the last three years). Significant involvement in recent collaborative research with staff closely involved in the programme. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of leadership in research and postgraduate. Familiarity with e-assessment and virtual examination platforms. Strong publication record in reputable journals within the last three years. Experience: in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments. Tenure External Examiners will be engaged on a contractual basis over a period of time with specified duties and roles that may change from time to time. Application Processes Step 1: Expression of Interest Interested candidates must submit an independent application to Iconic Open University, expressing their interest in serving as an external examiner. Step 4: Official Appointment Upon Senate approval, successful candidates will receive an official letter of appointment with conditions of contract and terms of reference. Step 3: Transmission of the evaluation outcome for Senate consideration and approval. Step 2: Review of applications and invitation for a due-deligence interaction virtually. Call to Action Once approved, an external examiner will typically serve for a term of one academic session which may be renewed based on performance. For research Degree examiners, appointments may be made on a semester basis. Termination of Appointment Iconic Open University reserves the right to terminate an appointment in cases of: Non-fulfilment of duties, including failure to submit reports or attend Examination Boards. Conflict of interest arising during the appointment. External Examiners may also resign by providing a notice in advance of completion of a semester assignment. Unprofessional conduct. Changes in programme provision rendering the appointment no longer applicable.
