Job Title: Development Communication Specialist Location : Abuja Summary of Duties Plays an integral role in strategic communication initiatives to foster social change, public awareness, and stakeholder engagement. Produces multimedia content both in-studio and on location, manages media relations, and maintains relationships with diverse stakeholders. Conducts focused research on current topics and developments within the social space. Detailed Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Design communication strategies to promote behavioural change, policy influence, or public awareness. Strategic Communication: Implement and align communication strategies with organizational goals. Stakeholder Engagement & Management: Collaborate with partners, donors, communities, policy actors, and the government to ensure project alignment, buy-in, and relationship mapping. Research & On-air Engagement: Conduct deep research (including fact-checking), craft compelling narratives, and host insightful, engaging interviews. Spontaneous Thinking & On-set Adaptability: Manage live broadcast glitches, think spontaneously, and remain calm under strict time constraints. Cultural Awareness: Leverage broad knowledge of global affairs and trends to connect with diverse international audiences. Content Creation & Editing: Write, edit, and produce persuasive multimedia content (success stories, press releases, newsletters, reports, television broadcasts, and social media) using basic graphic design and video editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, etc.). Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Analyze broadcast media coverage, utilize performance metrics to gauge campaign effectiveness, track project impact, and execute corrective actions. Interpersonal & Multi-Cultural Sensitivity: Communicate and collaborate effectively within diverse, multicultural teams. Crisis Communication: Protect organizational reputation and communicate clearly during challenging situations. Key Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Development, International Relations and Diplomacy, Economics, or a related field. Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience: in development communication, local/international NGOs, advocacy, or media with a focus on social development. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional languages is a plus. Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of global issues within the humanitarian and development space. Studio & On-air Skills: Exceptional communication skills, on-air charisma, technical proficiency with studio technology (teleprompter, talkback, etc.), and composure in live, high-pressure environments.
