The Mechanical Technician works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to sustain optimal machine performance and protect the integrity of the processing operation. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis, and disciplined equipment care to minimize downtime, reduce mechanical losses, and support consistent production flow in line with quality and safety standards. The Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous operation of mechanical equipment that drives Matna’s cassava starch processing plant. Key Responsibilities: Assist in reducing mechanical-related waste, rework, and inefficiencies within the plant Monitor equipment performance and identify early signs of wear, misalignment, or failure Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment used in cassava processing and starch production Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults quickly to minimize production downtime and operational disruptions Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and process flow. Follow safety procedures and maintenance protocols to prevent accidents and equipment damage Support installation, calibration, and commissioning of new and existing mechanical systems Maintain proper lubrication, alignment, and servicing machines to ensure efficient operation Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and equipment documentation Collaborate with Production teams to ensure machines operate within required performance standards Qualifications Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs under minimal supervision Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices in a factory environment Strong hands-on experience: with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, dryers, and processing equipment Willingness to work in a shift-based industrial environment.
