The Well Services Superintendent provides senior operational and technical leadership for the planning, readiness, execution and performance of completion, workover, intervention and specialist well-service activities across the Drilling & Well Services ME. The role is accountable for converting approved Well objectives into safe, technically assured and execution-ready service programmes covering coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, pumping, stimulation, well testing, fishing, milling, perforating, logging, pressure-control and related operations. The incumbent ensures well-service operations are executed within approved barriers, operating envelopes, HSE requirements, regulatory obligations, cost and schedule targets. The role coordinates well engineers, service supervisors, contractors, equipment providers, logistics and asset/production interfaces; drives service quality, equipment readiness, NPT reduction and restoration of well productivity. Key Responsibilities: Well Services Leadership & Execution Governance Translate the approved ME strategy and well-delivery plan into executable well services operations plans, intervention/service schedules, readiness priorities and field performance objectives. Support the ME Leader in delivery of well services operating budgets, cost efficiency, service unit utilization and contract performance; provide accurate operational inputs to forecasts and commercial decisions. Define and continuously improve well services operations procedures, execution standards, well-service interfaces, readiness criteria and field operating practices. Provide operational input to well-service contracting strategies, scopes of work, technical evaluations, performance criteria and mobilization plans. Support tenders and client proposals with credible well services execution methodology, service-equipment/resource assumptions, schedules, operational risks and productivity benchmarks. Provide the ME Leader with concise operational reporting on service performance, well progress, NPT, HSE, well-control status, critical risks, cost/schedule variance and recovery actions. Well Services Planning & Operational Readiness Translate production, integrity and well objectives into integrated completion, workover and intervention execution plans, including scope definition, sequencing, resources, equipment and logistics. Approve well delivery philosophies, well sequencing, service unit strategy, batch/campaign concepts, logistics assumptions, and execution readiness criteria. Ensure intervention and service programmes are technically robust, barrier-compliant, executable and optimized for well productivity, integrity and lifecycle value. Drive fit-for-purpose selection and standardization of coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, pumping, stimulation, pressure-control and intervention technologies; benchmark service performance. Lead intervention readiness reviews, programme reviews, equipment assurance, pre-job meetings, post-job reviews and service-quality performance forums. Intervention, Completion & Well-Service Technical Assurance Provide governance over well basis of design, casing and tubular design, cementing, drilling fluids, hydraulics, torque & drag, directional drilling, BHA/bit strategy, pore/fracture pressure, wellbore stability, completions, stimulation, sand control, intervention, suspension and abandonment designs. Ensure independent verification and disciplined technical assurance at defined stage gates before execution. Ensure all programmes, procedures, calculations, schematics, barrier diagrams, risk assessments, and management-of-change records are complete, reviewed, approved, and traceable. Maintain engineering standards, design practices, technical authority levels, deviation/waiver processes, and lessons-learned requirements. Ensure interfaces with subsurface, facilities, production technology, flow assurance, integrity, marine/logistics, and operations are fully resolved. Well Services Operations & Field Execution Provide executive operational oversight for well intervention and service campaigns and well service activities from mobilization through demobilization. Ensure service-equipment selection, acceptance, certification, audit, equipment readiness, maintenance status, critical spares, and operating envelopes are adequate for the planned wells. Set expectations for daily operational discipline, reporting quality, decision escalation, non-productive-time control, invisible lost time reduction, and technical limit performance. Ensure safe execution of drilling, tripping, casing, cementing, well testing, completion, suspension, workover, and abandonment activities. Lead response to critical operational deviations, equipment failures, well-control events, stuck pipe, losses, influxes, instability, integrity threats, and other high-consequence conditions. Pressure Control, Well Integrity & Barrier Management Own the ME framework for well control, primary/secondary barrier management, kick prevention/detection, shut-in response, and well-control competency. Ensure two-barrier philosophy and well barrier schematics/verification are applied where required throughout the well lifecycle. Ensure BOP, pressure-control equipment, choke manifold, diverter, emergency systems, and associated certification/testing regimes meet approved requirements. Govern well integrity across drilling, completion, production handover, intervention, suspension, and abandonment interfaces. Ensure immediate escalation, investigation, learning, and close-out of well-control incidents, barrier failures, kicks, losses with escalation potential, and integrity anomalies. Completion, Workover & Intervention Delivery Provide governance for lower/upper completion design, completion fluids, packers, tubing, safety valves, artificial-lift interfaces, stimulation, clean-up, well testing, and handover. Oversee workover, coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, pumping, fishing, milling, perforating, logging, and other intervention programmes. Ensure intervention scope is risk-assessed, barrier-compliant, technically assured, and integrated with production/asset priorities. Drive reliability, restoration of well potential, deferred-production reduction, and efficient intervention cycle time. Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage. Recognized professional engineering registration/membership is strongly desirable. Professional / Technical Certification Current or recent IWCF/IADC well-control certification at an appropriate supervisory/engineering level is strongly preferred. Relevant drilling, completions, well integrity, HSE, project management, or asset-management certifications are advantageous. Demonstrated familiarity with API, ISO, IOGP and other recognized drilling/well engineering and well-control standards/practices. Minimum 12-15 years’ progressive experience: in completions, workover, well intervention, well services or integrated well delivery, with substantial oil & gas field exposure. At least 5 years in senior well-services supervision, intervention leadership, completions/workover operations, well services superintendent or equivalent field execution responsibility. Proven experience: delivering complex onshore and/or offshore wells through planning, engineering, execution, close-out, and performance improvement. Strong record in well-control governance, operational risk management, contractor/service-company management, and high-hazard decision-making. Demonstrated ownership of budgets, commercial performance, cost optimization, contracting strategy, and executive stakeholder engagement. Experience: building multidisciplinary teams and developing national/indigenous capability is highly desirable.
