We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Research Assistant Location: Abuja Department: International Research Centre of Excellence Employment Classification: Adhoc (Temporary Appointment) Position Overview The candidate will work closely with the project team to ensure activities are well documented, research outputs are delivered on time, and the project’s achievements are effectively showcased through social media and other channels. The Research Assistant will support the day-to-day implementation of research and project activities under the INFORM Africa Research Hub grant. This role combines research and communications assistance. Key Responsibilities: Prepare clear and accurate meeting minutes, documenting key discussions, follow up action points, and next steps: Prepare and submit accurate meeting minutes within 5 working days for all assigned meetings, clearly capturing key discussions, decisions, action points, responsible persons, and timelines. Support data collection, analysis and visualization: Accurately carry out assigned tasks in data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization. Support the INFORM Africa capacity building activities: Support at least two capacity-building activities annually by preparing training materials, managing attendance documentation, providing logistics assistance, conducting participant follow-up, and delivering post-activity summaries. Support scientific writing: Support the delivery of at least two scientific publications annually, including literature reviews and manuscript drafts and one grant application (as assigned). Additional responsibilities: will be assigned by the direct supervisor: Other tasks will be assigned based on the need to support INFORM Africa and may include photography, maintaining grants calendars, support manuscript writing, etc. Draft social media posts, event summaries, success stories, and visual content briefs for science communication postings and monitor interactions online: Work with the communication assistant to design and develop high-quality, approved social media posts, event summaries, success stories, and visual content briefs for at least 95% of assigned project activities, in line with institutional communication guidelines. Assist with project reporting, archiving project materials, organizing project One drive folder and keeping all in date: Contribute timely inputs to grant reports and ensure all project documents are accurately updated, properly archived, and submitted within agreed timelines Educational Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology or any other relevant qualification. At least One year Experience: in scientific writing, project support roles, administration and reporting.
