We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Nurse, Health Job ID: 5428 Location: Chibok, Borno Job Summary This position is expected to triage patients, ensure smooth patient flow, provide clinical care, assist with referrals as needed and provide health education: and hygiene promotion. In addition, the Nurse may also be requested to assist Health staff in another capacity as needed. The Nurse will work to contribute to an improvement in the overall health of the populations most affected by the crisis through the provision of quality health care (curative, preventive health care). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. Main Tasks And Responsibilities: Ensure that patients are accurately registered and recorded for reporting and case management. Assist clinicians, midwives, laboratory, vaccination, and pharmacy staff in carrying out general duties as designated by the supervisor. Support conducting lab work and other available and accessible tests for patients. Manage triage, taking vital signs and organize patients for consultation. Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services. In collaboration with the supervisor, provide treatment as per MOH/WHO treatment guidelines and protocols. Adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, patient communications, confidentiality, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables, and other medical supplies. Work with supervisor to provide both didactic and on-the-job training to build capacity and enhance skills of other staff such as CHWs and nurse assistants. Provide clinical nursing services according to internationally accepted standards. Ensure compliance with MoH/WHO guidelines on rational drug use. Ensure proper data management through completion of appropriate patient cards, registers, tally sheets, and reports. Conduct nursing care of patients as per guidelines and instructions of the physician if working in inpatient department and carry out tasks according to the protocols. Carry out assigned additional duties including triage, IPC, child protection focal point, dispensing, and/or data management as needed. Provide vaccinations for children and pregnant women to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality Attend physical examination of maternal and newborn health (MNH) patients, when requested by the patient. Assist with the setup, maintenance and mobilization of the clinical spaces as required. Undertake dressing, suturing of deep wounds etc. Provide health education: and hygiene promotion to patients based on their diagnoses and co-morbidities such as diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention (such as need for vaccination, suggest lifestyle changes etc.) Ensure relevant patients including children under 5 are screened for malnutrition or provide malnutrition services if trained and responsibilities: assigned by the supervisor. Policy Adherence Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect international humanitarian law at all times. Actively promote PSEA (prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps. Minimum Qualifications Must work independently under difficult conditions. Good decision-making skills Extremely flexible and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations. Ability to relate to and motivate staff effectively. Able to take on non-medical responsibilities: from time to time to cover for other team members. Qualified and registered nurse from a government recognized nursing Institute with a valid license to practice or a similar required qualification in the country for the position. Good reading and writing skills in English. Fluency in spoken national and local language. Previous NGO experience: preferable. Previous experience: in the same capacity will be an edge.
