We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Payroll Officer Location: Victoria Island, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions in compliance with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and organizational policies. The role serves as a critical link between the HR and Finance departments, ensuring that all employees are compensated correctly and on schedule, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Job Responsibilities: Coordinate with HR on new hires, exits, promotions, salary adjustments, and other changes that affect payroll. Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, employee salary data, and deduction schedules in the HRIS or payroll software. Calculate and process statutory deductions, including PAYE (Personal Income Tax), pension contributions, National Housing Fund (NHF), and other applicable levies. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for management and finance review. Ensure timely remittance of all statutory deductions to relevant government agencies (PENCOM, NHF, NSITF, etc.) within stipulated deadlines. Process monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees, including full-time, part-time, and contract staff. Continuously identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls. Assist in the preparation of annual tax returns and other statutory filings related to employee compensation. Monitor and implement updates to payroll processes in response to changes in tax laws, pension regulations, and minimum wage legislation. Ensure strict confidentiality of all payroll information and employee financial data. Prepare and distribute pay-slips to all employees every pay cycle. Handle payroll queries from employees professionally and resolve discrepancies promptly. Support internal and external payroll audits by providing accurate records and documentation. Collect, verify, and reconcile attendance, overtime, and leave records from HR and line managers before payroll runs. Job Specification Education: - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional Qualification-Professional certification in HR or payroll management is an added advantage (e.g., CIPM, ICAN, ACCA, SHRM).
