We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Credit Control Officer Location: Lagos Job Purpose The Credit Control Officer is responsible for managing customer credit accounts, monitoring outstanding receivables, ensuring timely collections, minimizing bad debts, and maintaining healthy cash flow while fostering positive customer relationships. Key Responsibilities: Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager. Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received within approved credit terms. Maintain accurate records of customer balances, collections, and aging reports. Support month-end closing activities by ensuring customer account balances are accurate. Identify potential credit risks and recommend mitigating actions. Maintain compliance with the Company's credit policy and internal controls. Ensure all customer receipts are accurately allocated to the appropriate accounts. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve payment discrepancies promptly. Prepare and issue customer statements, reminders, and demand notices. Escalate delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate recovery actions. Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) aging reports and collection status reports. Assist in the implementation of process improvements to enhance collection efficiency. Review customer credit limits and recommend adjustments based on payment performance. Follow up on overdue invoices through calls, emails, and visits where necessary. Liaise with the Sales team to resolve customer disputes affecting collections. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Collection Rate Percentage of Overdue Receivables Number of Disputed Invoices Resolved Bad Debt Ratio Debtor Days (Days Sales Outstanding - DSO) Accuracy of Customer Account Reconciliations Timeliness of Reporting Compliance with Credit Policy Qualifications Experience: in FMCG, Manufacturing, or Distribution is an added advantage. ICAN, ACCA, or other relevant professional certification is an added advantage. 2–4 years experience: in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, Finance, or a similar role. Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) is desirable. Knowledge & Skills: High attention to detail and accuracy. Financial analysis and reconciliation. Accounts receivable management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good report-writing skills. Credit control and debt recovery techniques.
