We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Senior Transport Manager (STM) Location : Mtwara Plant Tanzania Key roles and responsibilities: of the Senior Transport Manager (Operations) Coordinate the execution of DCT’s fleet operational strategy/plan in line with agreed upon guidelines. Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Responsible for planning and coordinating the responsibilities: contained in Company’s policies. Oversee in conjunction with the recovery units, the return to operational condition any impounded, accidental, or damaged trucks in line with agreed timelines. Be responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of fleet Managers and their teams. Responsible for strategic planning by the continuous evaluation of the company’s truck fleet in order to formulate plans to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of fleet assets in the short, medium and long term. Conduct annual performance appraisal for fleet personnel under him. Responsible for the general supervision over the use of truck fleet and for directing the attention of the management to any unsatisfactory circumstances that come to notice. Identify/coordinate training needs for fleet operations employees. Proactively identify potential operational issues and opportunities in the fleet operations department. Supervise scheduling of truck movements. Manage/monitor efforts of all fleet managers to achieve synergies and ensure achievement of the operations targets. Ensure periodic review, monitoring and reporting of truck asset maintenance Participate in safety committee meetings. Hold regular toolbox and safety meetings with team members. Ensure compliance of trucks in terms of operations and maintenance and that customer are satisfied with the level of service provided. Participate in the design and articulation of DCT’s truck fleet management strategy, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with truck operations. Perform any other duties as may assigned by Head of Transport or Management. Responsible to informing management of any action necessary to reduce fleet operating costs. Supervise proper fleet management to improve the availability and utilization of the fleet, reduce downtime and troubleshoots deviations from routes. Ensure fleet managers are adhere to company regulations and freight transportation laws. Keep abreast of recent developments in the logistics and transportation laws and regulations. Plan, develop and execute a truck replacement schedule. Oversee liaison with maintenance unit to ensure trucks are always in good working condition. Some key result areas (Performance Rating) Maximize fleet availability. Fleet safety compliance. Coordination of truck maintenance concerns and issues with workshop. Plan and develop truck and equipment replacement schedule. Achievement of operational goals and targets. Develop and review truck condition reports. Identification/coordination of training needs for fleet staff. Review meetings with fleet managers. Performance goals for fleet staff. Appraisal of fleet staff performance. Educational qualification & experience: The ideal candidate should possess as minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree (preferable) in Transport and Logistics. Master’s degree with specialization in Transport and Logistics (preferable) Able to operate effectively in a high-volume service driven transport operation 25 years (Preferable) of related experience: with at least 15 years specific experience: in transport. Competencies required: Strong understanding of current transport system, concepts, strategy, and best practice. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the macro and micro environmental trends and their impact on the organization Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Very good negotiation and relationship management skills. Demonstrate ability and technical aptitude. Strong organizing and time management skills. Ability to operate effectively in a high-volume service driven transport operation. Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision-making and people management skills. Excellent knowledge of the products and service offerings of Dangote Cement P.L.C. Good interpersonal relationship skills and communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. In-depth understanding of the trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
