Human Resources Manager in a Top-tier Co-educational Secondary School - The People Practice ⏲ Sep 9, 2026, 7:01 AM ⋕ View all Teaching & Education: jobs The People Practice - Our client, a Top-tier Co-educational Secondary School, is recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Human Resources Manager Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job role Our client is seeking a Human Resource Manager who is responsible to the CEO and Executive Directors to manage issues relating to employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other areas of HR. Responsibilities: Communicates performance management system & process Put in place a proper process to ensure that all HR activities are standardised. Based on market conditions, makes recommendations for adjustments to the Salary scales at least annually if applicable. Conducts needs analysis studies and confers with managers and supervisors to determine training needs. Provides leadership and direction with respect to the company’s performance management system. Ensures performance appraisals are completed as required, in accordance with policy, and assists managers and supervisors in their preparation whenever required. Is responsible for working with line managers & senior management on annual compensation actions & in developing a proper policy & approach to guide these actions Work with the top management of the organization to identify & plan the development of staff with high potential to ensure fast track growth for such staff to facilitate retention. Ensure recruitment targets are met, and that Recruitment administration and processes fully live up to Corporate HR standards. Ensure through advice & monitoring that HR policies are implemented consistently, & that the core values of the company with regard to people are upheld Oversees the preparation of job descriptions, both newly created and those that require updating and revisions. Conducts moderate to complex job pricing and market analyses. This involves participating in industry or regional surveys or conducting customized surveys. Ensure that the appropriate testing process is in place for recruitment across the organization for transparency Advise all employees on the HR & employee relations policies. Direct & control the Operations aspect of the HR function to ensure that it provides cost effective & timely services across the organization Qualifications Requires University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Behavioural Science, or Social Science. Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management. Requires 10 - 15 years of experience: in general human resources or related work in the Educational or hospitality industry. Requires knowledge to review and interpret survey and other data. Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills in recruitment, plugging HR gaps, setting and effective tracking of KPIs. A postgraduate qualification in HR is preferable. Must be familiar with labour and employment law and practices. Must have sound knowledge in various local and international human resources standards in the areas of compensation, employee relations, general benefits, employment and staffing practices, and organizational development. Must have skills: Have strong analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyse data. Handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion. Advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company. Knowledge of a local language will be a definite advantage.
