Original source description

The Finance Manager will serve as the senior financial authority, providing rigorous financial stewardship across the family’s property portfolio, investment holdings, and philanthropic activities. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a qualified accountant with deep experience: in multi-entity financial management, property accounting, and investment reporting. The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, highly organised, and comfortable operating with the discretion and judgement that a private family office environment demands. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Consolidated Accounts: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across all entities and activities of the family office. Produce consolidated management accounts providing a unified view of the family’s financial position. Present financial performance clearly and concisely to the MD and family principals. Ensure all reporting complies with applicable financial reporting standards (IFRS / FRS). Property & Real Estate Finance: Maintain accurate project-level cost accounting, budget tracking, and profitability reporting across the property portfolio. Manage revenue recognition for property sales, rental income, and service charge receipts. Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts for active development projects and ongoing property operations. Track capital expenditure, asset classifications (investment property, PPE, inventory), and depreciation schedules. Reconcile project costs against contractor certifications and payment schedules. Support due diligence and financial modelling on new acquisitions and development opportunities. Investment & Portfolio Accounting: Maintain accurate records of the family’s investment holdings across asset classes (equities, fixed income, private equity, alternatives). Track investment performance, distributions, and returns at both individual asset and portfolio level. Liaise with external fund managers, custodians, and advisors to reconcile statements and ensure reporting accuracy. Prepare investment performance summaries and net worth statements for family principals. Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process across all family office activities. Develop rolling cash flow projections and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making. Monitor actual vs. budget performance, investigate variances, and report findings with recommendations. Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Manage day-to-day cash flow across all accounts and entities, ensuring adequate liquidity at all times. Oversee banking relationships, payment authorisations, and banking facilities. Maintain a clear and current cash position across all family office accounts and report regularly to the MD. Manage foreign currency exposure where applicable. Tax Compliance & Statutory Obligations: Ensure full compliance with all applicable Nigerian tax obligations: CIT, PAYE, WHT, VAT, and CGT on property disposals. Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to coordinate filings and statutory audit processes. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the family office remains fully compliant with FIRS and relevant regulatory bodies. Oversee pension contribution compliance (PenCom) for all staff. Internal Controls & Governance: Design and enforce robust financial controls and approval frameworks across all transactions. Develop, document, and maintain financial policies and procedures appropriate for a family office environment. Conduct periodic internal reviews of financial processes and recommend improvements. Ensure all financial transactions are properly authorised, documented, and recorded. Philanthropic Financial Management: Maintain separate books and financial records for the family’s philanthropic foundation and charitable activities. Ensure grant disbursements, donor records, and programme expenditures are accurately tracked and reported. Support any regulatory or reporting requirements: specific to the foundation’s legal structure. Administration & Vendor Management: Oversee procurement processes, vendor onboarding, and contract administration for the family office. Manage relationships with external service providers including auditors, legal counsel, and financial advisors. Mentor and develop any junior finance or administrative staff. Required Qualifications Qualified accountant: ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or international equivalent is mandatory. Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification finance experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role. Demonstrable experience: in a family office, private holding company, real estate company, or similar multi-entity environment strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements. Proven experience: in property or project accounting, including cost control and cash flow management. Experience: managing investment or portfolio financial records is highly desirable. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar). Remuneration Salary: N600,000 net monthly and above with other benefits.
