The candidate for the post shall be visionary and could provide good leadership. The candidate must possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life. The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and the head of the University’s Library responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and coordination of the activities of the University Library. Requirements: The candidate must possess the following qualification skills: Have proven record in managerial leadership in academic library; Have considerable international exposure with potential to attract donors and grants for the development of the University Library; Show evidence of scholarship in publication by quantity and quality; Possess excellent skills in Information Communication Technology and can proficiently use relevant databases and software in the physical and e-library; Have minimum of fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience: and five (5) years of experience: as a Deputy University Librarian in a recognised University; Be not more than 60 years old by January 27, 2027. Possess and can present an excellent vision for the development of the library to a 21st century library; Possess a good honors Degree with minimum of Second Class Lower Division and a Master Degree in Library and Information Studies from a recognized institution; Possess Doctoral degree in Library and information sciences and/or other relevant fields; Possess professional registration with the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), and membership of relevant societies; Tenure and Conditions of Service The University Librarian shall hold office on such terms and conditions as specified in the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun Establishment Act 2023 and the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993, as amended, and as applicable to Nigerian Federal Universities, as may be determined by the Federal Government from time to time. All other conditions and benefits: attached to the office of the Bursar in the Federal Universities in Nigeria are applicable as determined time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria / Governing Council. The tenure for the University Librarian is as contained in the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun Establishment Law 2023 and the University Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1993 as amended.
