We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Offshore Diesel Heavy-Duty Mechanic Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The suitable Diesel Heavy-Duty Mechanic will responsible for the inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and preventive maintenance of diesel-powered heavy-duty machinery, generators, and other mechanical equipment used in offshore operations. The role ensures that all equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational while complying with company HSE requirements: and offshore industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Report major equipment defects and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Perform routine oil, filter, coolant, fuel-system, and lubrication services. Inspect offshore machinery and equipment before and during operations to identify defects or potential failures. Troubleshoot engine starting problems, overheating, abnormal noise, loss of power, excessive smoke, and other mechanical faults. Replace worn, damaged, or defective components and ensure correct installation and alignment. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations offshore. Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and emergency drills. Maintain and repair heavy-duty equipment such as generators,, cranes, compressors,, anchor winches, pumps, and other diesel-powered machinery. Conduct equipment testing after maintenance or repairs to confirm safe and proper operation. Read and interpret equipment manuals, hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and maintenance instructions. Service, repair, and overhaul diesel engines,Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, Perkins ,cooling systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems. Ensure tools, workshop equipment, and spare parts are properly maintained and safely stored. Work closely with operators, electricians, welders, maintenance supervisors, and other technical personnel to resolve equipment problems. Participate in planned maintenance and equipment shutdown activities. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, spare parts used, and equipment condition. Required Qualifications & Experience: Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty machinery. Ability to work safely under pressure and in challenging offshore conditions. Ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment effectively. Relevant experience: as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Mechanic OPITO BOSIET/FOET and medical required Previous offshore, marine, oil & gas or industrial maintenance experience: is highly desirable. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. SSCE, OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Diesel Mechanics, Plant Mechanics or a related discipline.
