We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Legal Counsel - Company, Sustainability, and VVB Location: Nigeria Job Description You will work closely with internal stakeholders across various departments to ensure legal compliance, promote sustainability goals, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers. We are looking for a legal counsel that will provide legal support and guidance on corporate governance, sustainability initiatives, and vendor compliance matters. Qualifications Professional and Industry certifications are added advantages. Degree in Law or related field (MA in Law is preferred). 5+ years proven experience. practicing law, with a focus on corporate governance, sustainability, climate action, and/or vendor compliance. Requirements: Arbitration and mediation skills and in-depth knowledge of administrative law and procedures. Commitment to promoting sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate legal risks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to handle legal disputes and litigation related to company operations, sustainability practices, and vendor relationships. Expertise in drafting and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, statements, agreements, etc. Familiarity with vendor management processes, including vendor due diligence and compliance assessments. Ability to Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote ethical business practices. Understanding legal functions of Validation/Verification Bodies (such as UNFCCC and VERRA). Strong understanding of corporate law, environmental regulations, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI Standards, SASB). Experience: advising on corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, up to date with relevant laws, and contributing to the knowledge base of the organization’s legal function (including legal aspect of sustainability and VVB).
