We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Driver Job ID: IITA/P&C/NRS2026-057 Location: Jigawa Contract: 1-year renewable contract Duties Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and maintained in accordance with IITA policies and manufacturer recommendations. Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor. Ensure the security and proper handling of passengers, project documents, and equipment during transportation. Ensure timely servicing, repairs, insurance renewals, and licensing of assigned vehicles in collaboration with the appropriate administrative unit. Transport project materials, equipment, and supplies to field locations and other designated destinations. Assist with loading and unloading project materials where necessary. Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff, consultants, partners, and visitors in support of project activities. Observe all traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices at all times. Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, maintenance records and trip documentation. Support logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, field visits, stakeholder meetings, and other project activities. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the course of duty. Requirements: A valid driver’s licence appropriate to the vehicle class and a clean driving record are required. A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, government agency, or corporate organization, is also required. Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate; additional training in vehicle maintenance is an advantage. Competencies: The ideal candidate must have: Excellent driving skills and commitment to road safety. Physically fit and able to travel frequently, including to remote locations. Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting skills. Good communication skills and a courteous, professional manner. Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned state. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and care. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Good knowledge of roads and routes within the state/district, including rural areas.
