We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Factory HSE Manager - Snacks & Dairies Location : Nigeria What You'll Do HSE Strategy, Governance & Compliance: Drive compliance with applicable HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Ensure strict adherence to established HSE policies, procedures, standards, and operational requirements. Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental programmes across the relevant facilities. Standardise HSE processes and programmes in line with the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 frameworks. Risk Assessment & Incident Management: Conduct and coordinate workplace risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and maintained. Establish root causes of incidents and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence. Identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards across operations and implement measures to mitigate associated risks. Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Environmental Management: Ensure environmental incidents, observations, and performance data are appropriately documented and reported. Enforce procedures for solid waste management and ensure waste disposal practices comply with applicable environmental requirements. Monitor environmental practices and identify opportunities to minimise environmental risks and improve sustainability. Manage procedures for wastewater discharge and ensure compliance with local environmental and regulatory requirements. Ensure effective implementation of environmental management programmes across relevant facilities. Factory Hygiene, GMP & Pest Control: Oversee the sanitation of production, storage, and surrounding facilities to support effective and hygienic operating conditions. Ensure timely and effective implementation of factory fumigation programmes. Ensure appropriate hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards are maintained across factory operations. Collaborate with relevant operational and quality teams to address hygiene, sanitation, and environmental concerns. Ensure both in-house and third-party pest control and fumigation programmes are effectively implemented and monitored. Emergency Preparedness & Response: Ensure emergency response infrastructure, equipment, arrangements, and procedures are current, effective, and adequately maintained. Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented following emergency drills and incidents. Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of emergency response procedures. Ensure emergency response teams are appropriately trained and prepared to respond to workplace emergencies. Coordinate emergency drills and simulations and identify opportunities to improve emergency preparedness. HSE Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Monitor key HSE performance indicators and drive initiatives to improve safety and environmental performance. Prepare and communicate HSE performance reports, trends, risks, and recommendations to management. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to strengthen HSE systems and practices. Maintain accurate records of risk assessments, incidents, inspections, audits, training, and other HSE activities. Collate, analyse, and review relevant HSE reports and performance data periodically. Team Leadership & Capability Development: Implement workforce HSE continuous development strategies across relevant factories. Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees to promote HSE ownership across the organisation. Coordinate HSE awareness, training, and capability-building initiatives for employees and contractors. Lead, coach, and develop HSE team members to ensure effective delivery of HSE objectives. Promote a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, hazard prevention, and continuous improvement. What We're Looking For Qualifications: A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Health, Safety and Environment will be an added advantage. BSc or HND in any discipline or HSE-related field Relevant professional certifications, such as NEBOSH and ISPON, are required. Experience: Proven experience: managing HSE programmes and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment. Experience: conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Minimum of 5 years' relevant HSE experience, preferably within an FMCG, food, beverage, or manufacturing environment. Proven experience: managing and coaching teams and individuals. Technical & Leadership Expertise: Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective risk control measures. Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness and response systems. Strong understanding of HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing compliance standards. Good understanding of GMP, factory hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and fumigation programmes Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities. Good understanding of environmental management, including waste management and wastewater discharge requirements. Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental management practices.
