We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Hotel General Manager Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership abilities, sound commercial judgment, excellent communication skills, and a proven understanding of hotel operations. The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, revenue growth, cost efficiency, exceptional guest experience, employee performance, and compliance with established hotel standards. He/She must be capable of leading teams, increasing occupancy and revenue, maintaining service standards, and building strong relationships with guests, corporate clients, vendors, and other key stakeholders. Residency Hotel is seeking a dynamic, commercially driven, and results-oriented Hotel General Manager to lead the overall operations of the hotel and drive sustainable business growth. Key Responsibilities: Hotel Operations & Business Performance: Review operational reports and take timely corrective actions where performance falls below expectations. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable business activities. Develop and implement operational strategies that improve productivity, service quality, guest satisfaction, and profitability. Drive revenue generation through effective sales, marketing, corporate partnerships, repeat business, and local market opportunities. Ensure proper coordination between all departments to achieve overall business objectives. Monitor key hotel performance indicators including occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), RevPAR, revenue, departmental performance, and operating costs. Identify and develop new revenue streams across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Events, and other hotel services. Revenue & Financial Management: Develop and execute strategies to increase hotel revenue, occupancy, and profitability. Monitor departmental budgets, expenses, purchasing, and resource utilization. Analyze financial and operational reports and provide management with actionable recommendations. Work closely with the Finance/Accounts team to ensure effective financial controls and accountability. Minimize operational wastage, unnecessary expenses, stock losses, and revenue leakages. Ensure effective cash-handling, purchasing, inventory, and cost-control procedures. Sales, Marketing & Business Development: Identify market opportunities and develop initiatives to increase room bookings, restaurant sales, events, and other hotel revenue. Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to develop campaigns that improve brand visibility and revenue performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, corporate organizations, travel agencies, event planners, and other business partners. Lead aggressive and strategic marketing initiatives to attract individual, corporate, government, group, and event clients. Monitor competitor activities, market trends, pricing, and customer preferences. Leadership & People Management: Monitor staff productivity, attendance, discipline, grooming, and compliance with hotel policies. Work with HR to recruit, onboard, train, develop, and retain high-performing employees. Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a strong service culture across the hotel. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement performance improvement measures where necessary. Set clear departmental objectives and ensure employees understand performance expectations. Provide strong leadership, direction, and motivation to all hotel employees. Identify training needs and ensure continuous employee development. Guest Experience: & Service Quality: Review guest feedback, online reviews, and service reports to identify areas for improvement. Personally monitor guest satisfaction and ensure complaints are resolved promptly and professionally. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hospitality, food quality, service delivery, and staff professionalism. Develop initiatives that increase guest retention, repeat bookings, referrals, and positive reviews. Ensure all departments consistently comply with Residency Hotel's service standards. Ensure consistently excellent guest experiences across all touchpoints of the hotel. Quality Assurance & Facility Management: Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, restaurant, bar, kitchen, facilities, and other operational areas. Work with the Maintenance team to minimize downtime and maintain hotel facilities in excellent condition. Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, safety, security, and presentation throughout the hotel. Ensure proper preventive maintenance schedules are implemented. Ensure maintenance issues are identified and resolved promptly. Compliance, Risk & Security Management: Maintain accurate operational documentation and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. Ensure proper emergency procedures and safety protocols are established and regularly communicated to staff. Implement effective risk management and loss-prevention measures. Work closely with the Security team to protect guests, employees, assets, and company property. Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, hospitality, and regulatory requirements. Reporting & Management Accountability: Participate actively in management meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making. Provide clear analysis of hotel performance, challenges, opportunities, and recommended solutions. Ensure timely implementation of management directives and approved initiatives. Set departmental targets and monitor performance against agreed KPIs. Prepare and submit regular operational and performance reports to Management. Key Performance Expectations The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate measurable improvement in: Guest satisfaction and online reviews. Cost control and reduction of operational leakages. Food & Beverage and other departmental revenue. Overall profitability and revenue growth. Hotel occupancy and room revenue. Employee productivity and retention. Compliance with hotel standards and operating procedures. Service quality and operational efficiency. Corporate/client acquisition and repeat business. Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor's Degree/HND in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related field. Strong financial management and cost-control abilities. Strong knowledge of customer service standards and hospitality best practices. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and emotional intelligence. Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, occupancy, profitability, and service excellence. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of hotel operations, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Administration. Previous experience: in a Hotel Manager, Operations Manager, Deputy General Manager, or similar leadership role will be an advantage. 2–4 years' proven managerial experience: in the hotel/hospitality industry. Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
